modifying tga files

Hi all friends!!

I'm modifying a tex file for my own use. The question is:

I have converted the tga file to bmp. With a paint editor I have modified the bmp file. Then I have converted the bmp file to tga again. The problem is when I use tex resizer to insert the new tga file to tex. The program shows me an error file that says: "this is not a 32 bit file" and I can't edit the tex file with my new tga file.

What I'm doing wrong friends??

Thanks in advance and a very happy racing from spain!!!

I think you'd better not to convert file from tga to bmp. Just edit tga with Photoshop or PSP

yup, work with the tga, if you convert to bmp you lose the alpha layer

a targa has (up to) 4 channels, a bmp has 3. GP4 uses 32 bit targas.

4 channels * 8 bits/channel = 32 bits

by converting to bitmap and back you lose the fourth channel.

I have used the gimp but I get the same error in texresizer.

The problem could be this:

I have opened a helmet and then I have inserted an image that I have created in bmp format. Could this be the problem???

Thanks for all friends!!

You have to add an alpha layer to it, try getting a .tga out of a helmet tex, pasting your design over the top and saving it, it should work.

In Gimp (i have version 2.3.7) remember add Alpha channel to picture before you save tga.
