***What is the best method to reduce PO????***

Hi all friends!!!

Since a long time ago I'm trying to reach the best compromise between quality and performance of my computer (playing gp4 of course,,,), but the results are bad.

When I install a new circuit the PO increases, but a minimum, nothing to take care. The problem is about the new cars:

Each car I have installed my PO goes on and on... and on!!!

I'm trying to reduce the quality of the textures but nothing happens; the PO is the same.

For now I have used texresizer and I have reduced every textures in cars.wad to the half. the PO is still the same but the textures are worse (half size) je, je!! I'm going crazy with the game.

I don't know what to do, so I think that you could help me a little.
I don't worry if the textures are a little bad but if it does not affect the PO... which thing makes this big increase of PO??
the lods,
the textures of the circuits...

please some help because if I run a race my computer elevates it temperature a lot and I don't want it.

my problem is: if for now are various cars in development, when I have installed all the new cars, what will happen with my computer??? It will explode!!!

thanks for all friends and sorry for the extension of the post, but I have tried to explain my problem the best I can!

A very, very happy racing from spain!!!

Turning mirrors off really decreases your PO

But in the end, upgrading your system is better, at least i don't like playing with low gfx settings.

I am playing GP4 without sound - I listen to music while driving:)
It's right, turning off 3D adn 2D sound will certainly increase performance.

I wouldn't advise that unless you do it through CSM tbh, it has a habit of making Windows really slow unless the program is already open

reduce texture sizes, ie use 512 helmets instead of 2048 ones and use 1024 or 512 texs instead of the larger ones

(copied and pasted form another thread)

i have all the cars and helmets on hi-res, and i have high PO and low FPS at the start.

the way i have solved this is to only use LODs 0 and 1 for all the cars, and use LODs 2, 3 and 4 from the original default cars in GP4, with no tex files, so they appear white.

so when i am close to another car, i can see the actual car, but when it is a couple of seconds ahead or behind me, it is the default 2001 car, with no tex, just white.

it look a bit rubbish, but it enables me to get PO of around 60-120 through all stages of the game, and FPS of at least 30, and 36 most of the time.

so i can now play comfortably with all the new cars, without losing performance.

i have to sacrifice all the cars looking perfect, but i'd rather have very good performance and no stuttering or slowing down, that perfect cars and terrible performance (i was getting PO of around 3000 at the start, and FPS as low as 2, which was completely unplayable).

just delete LODs 3 and 4 for all the cars, and insert the default LOD 3 and 4's, you'll notice a huge difference. sure, you'll get white cars when they're far away, but the guys you are immediately racing with will appear perfectly. i think it's worth it. just think, from 3000 PO and 2 fps, to around 120 and 30 fps on the grid, and up to 36 fps while racing, with PO lower than 100, that's a huge difference, and much more enjoyable than having perfect cars which stutter like crazy.

i found that just replacing LODs 3 and 4 wasn't enough, so i went 1 step further and deleted LOD 2 as well, so i only run LODs 0 and 1 for the actual cars, 2, 3 and 4 are the default ones.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael

Bumpmapping etc can be turned off in the graphics menu,

(n00b ;))
well I would recommend to change them from f1graphics.cfg...

I turned off the visors as well. I don't use cockpit view to race so it's pretty pointless. Might help with the PO a little bit.

you can use the nose tip view or just the blank bit it will be a lot faster

Or, for an answer that might actually help you !!. Try turning them off in the ingame menu, if that does not work, open your graphics cfg and look for the lines,

"full dynamic video walls v2", check that it is set to "0".

For Heat Haze,

look for the line, [mainview]Draw Heat Haze v3, also check that this is set to "0"

"0" is off

"1" is on.

But first, make sure the very first line in your cfg is set to "1"

i hope that helps mate :)
