Problem with 1999 Mod: Salo helmet not showing at Imola etc.

I've recently downloaded the 1999 MOD from GP4 Italia and there seems to be a problem with it...

Salo's helmet appears in the Ferrari at the A1-Ring onwards, but it doesn't appear in the BAR at Imola, Monaco and Barcelona. Sarrazin's helmet also appears at Interlagos. I've installed all the updates and fixes and whatever.

Is there any way of getting Salo's BAR helmet to work? I've checked the wads and everything is there.

it's the same problem fot me in imola. Sorry, but i never could fix it.

there was a bug in the default GP4, where the BAR drivers helmets were in the wrong folder, they were in the Cars flder, instead of the Cars > Cars folder.

i thinkg the 9.6 patch sorts that problem out.

have a look in your GP4 > Cars folder, the correct helmet might be in there, when it should really be in the GP4 > Cars > Cars folder.

maybe that only works for the game when it's not using a Mod, i don't know.

Nope, it's not made a difference. For some reason, the game is chosing to use "cars.wad" from the f11999 folder instead of "cars_imola2001.wad". It seems to work for Interlagos and "cars_interlagos2001.wad", and at the A1 Ring with "cars_a1ring2001.wad", just not at Imola, Monaco or Barcelona.

I can't quite work out what is telling the game to use those wad files instead of cars.wad, or what is telling the game to use cars.wad instead of cars_imola2001.wad, if that makes sense!

As I said in my first post, I checked cars_imola2001.wad, cars_monaco2001.wad and cars_barcelona2001.wad and Salo's helmet is there, in the right place.

look for a 'gpxtrack.ini' file in the mod. that will tell where the wads are used

I think it's something to do with the BAR slot. I just used Wadupdater to install two copies of the same helmet - one to overwrite Badoer's helmet, and one to overwrite Zontas. I used the same helmet texture, just under a different name. Badoer's replacement helmet was shown, but Zonta's wasn't.

But then, earlier on (before I tried this), I renamed cars_imola2001.wad to cars.wad, and Salo's helmet showed through. This is very strange...

Ok, I think I found the problem.

The car is using the DRIVER10_1.tex and DRIVER10_2.tex in the Grand Prix 4/cars folder instead of the one in the WAD files. Is it supposed to do that? Is there a way to stop it doing that? :P

Ah ha! Worked it out! :D :D :D

All you have to do is go to the CSM/Extras folder, copy NoCarsFolder.cap and put it in Grand Prix 4/Data/Patch. You'll have to create the directory.

That will allow you to disable the Cars folder and have Salo's helmet!
