Fast_alonso, thanks for the tip. It worked on the cars wad where I was building the 91 mod as cars, helmets, etc were released. I also have the beta 1991mod and it was not working either, but changing graphics in game to "High" took care of the white cars and other cars distortion of skins as well. Only issue now is the Williams flashes from old version to 1991 verson and has 1991 skins on close views.

I can't get this mod working.

I downloaded the main file from 1991mod.tk and ran that through CSM, and it installed fine, but when I played it and it loaded the track it crashed to the desktop.

So I noticed three update files, I noticed the first one which fixes that bug, I tried to install it but it just crashes carset maganger, I've tried this with all various versions on GP4 and and the GPx patch, and with different versions of CSM.

Am I missing something?

Yeah but so many other people seem to have it working.
I've just had the new GP2 2005 season working fine so I know it's not CSM.

Graaaaagh. Annoying! :D

@loque - did you install CSM in your GP4 directory? That maybe the key.

Best of luck with this as it is well worth the effort. Let us know if it works. I don't know if everone has found this but, I don't have any cockpit. However, if you hit your page up key and cycle through the different camera settings there is a non-working cockpit view.

Stick with it loque - it is a blast!!!

Nope that didn;t work either. It just crashed CSM again. It's probably some stupid little conflict somewhere. I would wait for the real one but it has been "just around the corner" for months :P

Loque,

What I did was a slight departure from the instructions.

I installed CSM in GP4 Folder (not a fresh install).

Installed the base mod

Ran the mod with nothing installed - got a field of 2004 cars with the tires outside of the brakes and the drivers sitting with their chests against the dash. looks goofy but gives a great visual as to how much narrower current cars are than then. Great!! - the mod works.

Installed the updates through CSM (install new carset) rather than just clicking on the updates. I have the most current CSM build. I don't know wether that matters.

Then followed instructions to the tee for "glueing" the mod together. There is a "circuits" folder that needs to be placed in swap folder

XX:\Grand Prix 4\GPSAVES\Carsets\1991mod\Data\swap

Good luck with this. You can Email me @ fraplee@juno.com maybe we can get this working for you.

if not: Don't worry this mod is no fun at all, the cars are terrible, these guys just wasted thier time, EA makes the best games, on line Bingo is much more thrilling...

But: DON'T YOU DARE MISS THE FINAL RELEASE!!!

Good Luck,

FraPP!!!

Loque - I forgot to tell you - sorry

Before you try 2nd install, delete the 1991 folder from the first attempt out of your GPSAVES\Carsets folder.

"Installed the updates through CSM (install new
> carset) rather than just clicking on the updates" I get as far as this.. but it doesn't matter how I open them, it installs them, then I get a "has encountered a problem and needs to close" box, whereupon it just loses whatever it just installed, so I can't install the updates.

I first got a grid of 2001 cars like you said with the wheels off the bases, but there was no track graphics so it looked like they were flying. Lukily Interlagos wasn't too hard to navigate so I finished 4th...

JeDa,
Just follow the instructions and it will work. Don't use the folder names from the rar files. (PM me maar als je er niet uit komt )

Thanks Erik,(ik heb je een pm gestuurd :) )

Months and years and weeks and mega-clicks away

Sorry for the sarcastic reply guys but if you jump over to the 91 mod forum on www.1991mod.tk, then you will find out where we are at.....

Physics testing is ongoing as we try and make the mod accesible to all skill levels....we want people to be able to 'race' with teh AI no matter how crap they are...well to an extent anyway....
