Proposed New 2006 Qualifying Format:

The first lap will be completed in an initial 15-minute period, when - at the end - the five slowest cars are eliminated and locked in positions sixteen through twenty. A second quarter-hour will determine grid slots 11 to 15, before a final shootout for pole and the top spots. A five minute gap is to separate each block of action.

Considerations: Low Fuel Levels, More than one car on the track at the same time


You have an incredible job on the current one-lap system, do you think the new proposed 2006 qualifying format can be acheived in some capacity?

I can see a flaw in the system straght away...what if theres more then 20 cars on the grid? lol, you never know with this mystery honda outfit. anyways, if someone could somehow incorporate this into the game somehow then it would be magnificent :).

I reckon you could make it work manually if the user had the ability to remove cars from the qualifying session, much like the race. If you can remove the cars from the race surely their is provision to remove the cars from qualifying - this way you could replicate the two 15 minute sessions with the slowest guys being removed. That way in the final 20 minute session you would have 10 cars running unlimited laps, I reckon it could work.
