how do i get these dark areas (on the sidepod) back to normal like the rest of the car:

select dark vertices and recalculate normals (surface -> normals -> calculate)

You could also look over at GPX Car Painting, its got a good painting, and mapping section in the forum over there. They also have masters of shaping and painting :- Dahie, Bojan & Max web link is

Nice looking car, good to see someone doing their own shape as well as livery for their own cars.

i would still highly recommend that zm official tutorial because it contains the basics of work in zm - shaping, adding polygons, mapping etc step-by-step...

thanks mckey415.... but i might get someone else to map it for me if cant get it right

schum6 you will find it a lot easier to build a car from scratch. When I started trying to shape i tried using deafult cars and it was just messey. Just set up some background images in ZM for scale and shape away

keiran all the hard parts r done... just have to put extras on to it like

FIX: Front Fin
FIX: Rear Wing
ADD: Barge Board (maybe)
ADD: Sidepod Wing (like Toyota&Jordan have) (maybe)

erm, what?

no offense to schum6, but this shape is only Erik's EJ14 which has been fictionalised. Nice as a learning process tho

here r some more changes to my car.




and yes six degrees it is the EJ14 shape by Erik but thats because i only like changeing or adding things to the cars i can't be bothered making a whole car. for me its just a waste of time.
