Coldblood,
I agree that usually it is easier to transfer from shape to shape, however the FW18 was very different from the FW17.
The FW19 was a development of the FW18, but there were significant differences between the 17 & 18.
I've found the best results come from (and it's actually a lot easier and quicker) creating a car from scratch than to rearrange a current model.
If you consider how long it has taken to get the FW17 looking as fab as it does, I have only been playing with the FW18 for 4 or 5 hours, please don't worry, it will be up to scratch by the time it is released!!!
@ Eugenio,
Please do not think the car is 'anywhere' near finished. As I mentioned in the message, there is lots and lots left to do. I have been plugging away for 4 or 5 hours on it and just wanted to post some screenshots showing what was being done.
I always felt that it was more preferable to show screenshots rather than to remain quiet (keeping up the interest and momentum), but I think I'll just finish the car then post some screenshots.
Let me just reitterate................
- The shape is nowhere near finished.
- The normals are nowhere near finished.
- The suspension and peripheral shapes are even complete yet.
- I haven't reduced the poly-count yet.
Once all these have been done (probably a couple of weeks) and I am happy with the shape I will start the textures, this will then take around a week or two.
Then once they are finished, I'll probably fiddle around some more until I am satisfied.
Then I'll release a beta and we can really start changing it to suit common consensus.
Then once everyone is happy - It'll be released.
So there is a LONG, LONG, way to go before it is anything near completed.
So please, don't worry about it - there is still a lot of work to go into it - and the finished result will hopefully be agreeable with you all.
(thanks for the feedback though)
