problems installing GP4

I've got problems playing GP4. I've tried on 2 different systems (win98 and WIN 2000)
I've installed patch 9.6, but each time i try to start the game, i first get a black screen and after a few sec i get my desktop again.

Does anyone know what to do, since i'm dying to play the game

what dx version. what gfx card. what gfx drivers.

you need to install direct X v8 or whatever comes with the CD,. unless you have a higher version already..

what specs is ur PC?

I've already changed this: won't work

the autorun thing is only because it will only launch if u have dx8 (so dx9 wont run it). gp4.exe has successfully been launched, but it crashes.

delete f1gstate.sav and f1graphics.cfg

tried update driver and deleting files: no change

get a new computer

Does your PC have one of those VIA motherboards?If so-get the correct/updated drivers for it.

Right, I'll weigh in with another problem.

I've installed GP4, it loads up OK (so I get a bit further than the guy above), but when I try to close it, it locks up my computer. What is that about?

BTW I have installed the 9.6 patch.

oh nice, that will be probably my next problem (if i get it started)

does this program work sometimes without any problems?
