i have only 1% to complete of gt3, and there 2 of the hardest time trials ever, complex string in an RUF (forget which model) and tahiti maze in an evo7.

as for best driving sim, for me, Formula One 97 on PSX, playing it now it's terrible, but @ the time it was what started my need for racing games.

oh yeah, F1 '97 was fantastic! (at the time)

with the commentary buy Murray and Martin: "That looks like a Ferrari!" or "Jordan has an OVAL shape air intake this year, lets see if that makes any improvement to their season"

i loved the way your visor got dirty, so you could rip off a tear-off, or how after a pitstop, there would be white stickers on your tyres to show they are new, then they would wear off as you drove half the lap.

and the tyres would get covered in grass/dirt when you went off, then gradually clear up.

and in cockpit view, there were actually arms that moved quite well as the wheel turned.

great times were had playing that.

RIP Jules, never to be forgotten. #KeepFightingMichael

"gozu , you used 12 words :P"
ACtually he used 9 words, 2 abbriviations and 5 numbers (and the one letter for the F (f12002)"

lol

:-P

How come, on a forum about a PC game, PlayStation games are being discussed?

Anyway, what the hell, I'll stick my oar in.

Best PS racing game: GT2. I completed about 50% of that game with one car: a Nissan Sunny!! Beat that!
GT3 is too hard!

ESSENTIAL OILS aren't essential unless you're an engine, a gearbox or a twat

I had Monaco perfected on that game!! Me and one of my m8s spent months shaving thousandths of a second off eachothers best times! Amazing game! Gimme that with updated cars and tracks, and a gfx engine, and i'd buy it!!

F1C, because its better and harder than GP4.

Actually, you got the tyre stickers on EA's F1 2000 for PS1. About the only graphical flourish in there...

Unless you count the cars turning black as soon as they get more than a few metres away.

for f1 choose gp4 above the EA games.
for sure gp4 lacks of realism on certain areas, but the feelin of f1c etc.. bothers me.
its like you have understeer all the time.
and when i change the setup towards oversteer it has oversteer, but at the same time it still has the annoying understeer!
it's like your car goes straight through whatever you change and your tail slips away if you try to fix it.
but the understeer never disappears. plus the fact that the AI is simply terrible.

i also like live for speed and netkar. GTR sucks (sorry), and good ol' papy nascar rules :P
gpl rules as well :)

I'm playing GP4 for more than 2 years now and now I've been trying to play F1c and I must say it's fun! Don't now yet which game is the best. Graphics of both games are great (after textures updates).

F1 97 on PSX has owned big time :) Also Formula 1 (95) was very good, it was much harder than 97.

F1'99 was absolutely pitiful in comparison. you couldn't take any corner at more than 50mph without the back spinning out, really bad physics. but it did have safety car.

is there anyway to make GP4 have stickers on the tyres after a pitstop?

Is there any way of introducing safety car or red flags to GP4. Perhaps those GPxPatch genii could do it?

i had that game also, it wasen't so bad from what i can remember.

just remembered, the f1 '01 official online hotlap championship, 3 laps round spa in button's 2001 benetton. that was awesome as me and my mate were competing, the most memorable bit being that i went home @ lunch time, (this was whilst i was stil @ school) threw my lunch down me, so i could get on my PS before going back to school, got two runs in, beat his time by only about a tenth :P.

on a completely random note, nice site/blog markko, love the clean design.

Nono, F1 98 was the game where you weren't able to steer. In F1 99 everything goes to fast in my opinion (too much grip) :)

f1 '98 was terrible, frame rate was all over the place, graphics were poor, physics were un-usable, yet i still had a need to complete it :S
