will this run gp4?

just upgraded my pc, its in the pc shop getting put together as i type(internet cafe), i've bought a brand new motherboard, athlon xp2500+, 512mb ram ddr pc2700, radeon9600, a new powersupply unit 400W and 10 blank cds, all for about £330, bargain, just wondering if anyone has a similar pc and if it runs gp4 well.
hopefully i'll get it back by thursday, i'm working tommorow so can't pick it up, and will it be able to play farcry, splintercell 2, and HL2 or D3?

Yeh should ru gp4 ok.. as 4 FarCry my M8 has a much worse Pc than that and he can run far cry..and i can run the demo on full graphics and my pc is a tad sloer than that.. you should be fine mate.. Hae fun with it!

Spend some time updating all the drivers before you do anything..well i would :-P

I assume when you say full graphics in farcry you mean at 800 * 600 cos no way would that machine run it at full at 1024 * 768. In fact there arn't many pc's on the planet that can......

i ran the demo with almost everything on highest res.. with a amd 2000+ without problems.. but i think it might be cuz of the ATi gfx card

if you're card isn't dx9 compatable (not sure if the 9600 is) go into the system config of Farcry and change "direct39d" to "OpenGL".save and enjoy..i run Farcry on an amd 2.6 barton with 1gig of drr 400 and a geforce 4 ti4200 64mb and onboard sound,everything set to high on 1024 by 768...its amazing what that little tweak can do...and yes that computer will run GP4 lovely..you need have no worries..

Yep, using OpenGL speed up Far Cry but it no more use any pixel/vertex shader and can show some other graphical limitation (i think that vegetation clipping is far to close from player in OpenGL) but at least it runs fine.

I have also played much with Far Cry parameters and played the whole game in 1024*768 with everything to normal but high res textures with a 2000+ and a GeForceFX 5900XT so playing Far cry at decent level is not reserved to elite.

Your new pc will run GP4 fine. It will be the same or better than mine when you get it back and my pc runs GP4 quite nicely for me

why, team cason? his gfx card isnt dx9 card, so it doesnt have to draw dx9 features, so the game is faster because of that.
