GP4 crashing

I know loads of people have had GP4 probs and that you get tired of reading them but if you really love GP4 than you will understand.

Sometimes the game crashes to desktop saying bout resources, i rum a Athlon 2400+ (2Gz) 512MB, XP home, Direct x 9, Geforce FX 5200.
This is my log file:

The debug log doesn't inform anything. Try to set verbosity level to 1 (low) or 2 (high) within GPxPatch.




In reality, doesn't matter who's right but most important is who's left.

It seem the problem is GPxPatch related graphics driver problem as shown at address 0x5109DB5D and 0x005ADB6A. You can visit GPxPatch Forum regarding to this issue.

No one is answering the post at SDI forum. Please HELP ME if anyone knows what these are: 0x5109DB5D and 0x005ADB6A and how to fix them PLEASE HELP ME.

I AM SO DESPERATE TO PLAY GP4, NOTHING COMES SOO CLOSE TO IT.

Once you have played you dont ever wont to stop.

Oh man, your exe was screwed.
Try running GP4 without GPxPatch to localize the problem. If it still crashes, your exe probably corrupt. Replace with the last known good.

I have the megapatch update (the small one). So i have to have the megaptch, and without the megapatch it still crashes, well the game doesnt get to the main menu, It just goes blank! But when i have the magapatch i can do 2,3 laps before it crashes!

Was it happen when you play GP4 for the first time? (with original gamepack). I hate to recommend new install but this is must be the only way to clear all messes maed by patches, mods, tools, etc. You can backup your current GP4 before installing a new one.

When installing complete, consider to upgrade to patch 9.6. Then re-configure your GP4 settings for the best and suitable performances with your system. Try to play the game in at least in quickrace and non-champ mode (full sessions). At this point you'll know whether your GP4 working as expected or not.

If anything goes well, backup the game (e.g. compress all GP4 folders into a single ZIP file). Now you can try to use tools, pathes, mods, etc. If things goes wrong, you can restore some files back to default from backup ZIP file. These are some files that often causing problems with GP4:

- cars.wad
- gp4.exe
- f1gstate.sav (when in incorrect checksum, GP4 won't load)
- all track wad files
- f1graphics.cfg (if you are use custom settings)

Both f1gstate.sav and f1graphics.cfg can be absent thus GP4 will create another one.

It is a new computer, and no it doesnt work on a clean install, it just goes to blank black screen, not even to the menu, so i install megapatch and it work (well u know what i mean by 'work';).

I have the 9.6 installed. Ill try what you said.

The problem is from your system itself. I'm not sure it caused by your graphics card, but try to install newest stable driver. You can try to install your GP4 in Win98SE, and upgrade DX to v8.1
