Why not have 1950 through 2004?a few reasons. one being that there doesnt seem to be much demand.
the standard set by 2003 car makers is sky high. and for 2003 theres been maybe half a dozen 'teams' putting out between 3 and 6 cars each.
meaning we get a great 2003 set. but it takes 20+ people and 12+ months for it too happen.
so you can imagine what it'll take to make 50 seasons.
the main hold up that i've noticed is carshapes. i find almost everything else pretty easy, but i've started carshaping now so i hope to make more season sets in the future.
theres a lot more work involved than in gp3, but its worth it. the 88 mod (will be out in some form this week - promise
) is great. it plays really well (for me anyway) and has some very close racing, and a bit of sliding around.
i've been doing 3 lap races at spain for testing, and usually the lead will change between senna and prost 3 or 4 times, and they'll be withn half a second of each other the whole time.
some results from the other day:
senna beat prost by 0.021 seconds
patrese beat cheeve by 0.018 for 3rd
nakajima beat naninni by 0.012 for 6th
johansson beat palmer by 0.023 for 12th
ghinzani beat martini by 0.003 for 15th
perez-sala beat bailey by 0.025 for 17th
all in the same race!
i think if peoples standards drop a bit, then more older sets will come out. the 1988 mod has 5 or 6 teams using a generic shape for starters, which i have no problems with, but others do.
gp3 had 1 shape, gp4 has 22.
gp3 had 5 loading screens, gp4 has 17.
gp3 has 1 perf, gp4 can have 17.
gp3 has 1 128x512? tex, gp4 has (usually) upto 3 at 1024x1024.
gp3 11 pitman, gp4 has 22.
you get the idea i guess.
@Richard - i've got a few of your sets on my hd and take a peek now and then if i get stuck
- some nice work - you should definetly come do some gp4 things.
@Swooping Falcon - you can get it from you local software shop - but at a price :|
otherwise i think psp7 has a 30 day trial...
well enough waffling from me.
