try not wearing your plank at all on the outlap Glad to see you're gunna join

drive gp4 with a steering wheel and NO steering help and you will be faster instantly

also turn OFF autobrakes

and just keep practising hehe

When I started on Imola I was lucky to lap in the 1:30's.Tried another setup and boom a lap of 1:25.So download a couple of hotlaps and export the setups.Watch the hotlaps and try different setups till you get one that works for you.

if your using the keyboard, download the keyboard times. use hofxlap to save the setup.

JamesM: Hi ans welcome. I have been struggling with the same disbelief for some time now. I have been able to make it to positions 10-12 sometimes, but I may be 2-3 secs off the the best. It's practice mostly and some of these guys are talented. Also a few do some real driving. Also, if you are coming from another f1 game, you have to take into account GP4's physics. As I mentioned above, this may mean driving in slow corners with different gears than you are used to.

I dont see the point though in having a set up that wears the plank down after 1 lap.

True. But this is just a game.The rules can be anyway we like. These rules just happen to be like this.

At the time that game was made, it was in the rules for qualfying.

Not so sure about what the rules were for the plank but i think if the plank was warn to nothing the cars would not have kept their grid slot, as i said not sure.

Cars planks would some times touch but not the whole way round the circuit

probably not in old school qualy, im sure thats one of the checks they do when they get randomly called to parc ferme on the way back to the pits. im sure someone like Eddie Irvine in France 99 or something got done for it, or maybe that was fuel :/ anyways, its a loophole in the game and the rules, so as long as we agree that its legal, then just settle for it.

****, I realized, that my fastest lap 1:21.678 is made without GPxPatch, I don`t know what was wrong with me, that I clicked the wrong icon on the desktop. So my second best is 1:21.803, and I lose one or two places. I will try to make a better lap later in the afternoon, with GPxPatch.

As long as you go on a very slow outlap, one flying lap scraching the plank around, and another very slow inlap, your plank won´t turn red, and it will be inside the F1 rules when scrutening it!!!!

i just am well off the pace for some reason at this track??

i cant explain it!

im usually faster than steve, but here i am SO damn slow.

PS: just to add, i improved to a 1.21.127

and i know i made quite a few mistakes still

but i doubt i will get down to a 1.20.0xx!

im thinking is steve using steering help??? because i cant explain it otherwise.
