Weird graphical glitch in 1992 and 1995 mods.

Out of sheer boredom after years of non gaming, I've re installed GP4 (can't believe it's over ten years old!)

I've used zaz tools to install some nifty mods.

However for the following mods;

1992 mod (by kerleyf1, Celinho, RF900 (Paolo), Jürgen (quickslick)
1995 mod (by Fongu, Tony)

(great mods by the way)

I am experiencing a weird and rather irritating graphical glitch in that the driver helmets and bodies are weirdly positioned in the cockpits, too low and far back and the digital read out on the cockpit panel is completely in the wrong position too.

I am convinced that something has gone wrong with the installation of the mod and have tried fresh installs (to no avail) and all the tweaking of the settings with zaztools, csm and gpxpatch have not solved the problem. Yes you can assume that I'm a total n00b when it comes to modding :)

I can't figure out what has gone wrong as the 1991 and 1994 mods are not displaying with this glitch.

Does any of you clever guys out there have any idea what could be causing these glitches and how to solve them?

Thanks in advance.

Hiya,

Well I'm still learning myself on this sort of thing but for mods each car normally has a positions file which tells the game where to place the driver, steering wheel, onboard camera views, etc.

If the data is wrong the driver looks like he's sitting in the airbox! Is this what you are referring to?

From there it becomes a little complex, each mod seems to be different in file layout. In some the positions file is living in each car folder.

So for example here is the positions file for a Red Bull Car (2012)

Ah... fixed it.

Funnily enough my Avast Internet Security was the culprit! (N)

But you definitely put me on the right track in looking at GP4Tweaker because although for some reason the GP4 Tweaker and team edit tools refuse to open on my system (although thinking about it... that may be solvable by editing the compatibility in windows properties). I couldn't edit any ini files because access was denied when trying to save the files but I then noticed that Avast had been blocking certain gp4tweak.dll files and after an insane amount of faffing around (which I'm not convinced is over yet) I managed to get the relevant files into the relevant folders and now CSM is able to get the mods to use the correct setting and hey presto I no longer have to put up with hilariously stupid driving position syndrome.

Considering the age of Grand Prix 4, these mods are really good, the cars are pretty much spot on, but then that isn't surprising because I know one of two of the contributors personally. GPX still eats up old the memory though, I'm struggling to even run at 15fps.

As AndrewHarper suspected some tweaking data in the mods do not work properly.
You can set the onboard camera view back to default by editing the file Data\Tweaker\gp4tweak.ini:

[SYSTEM_TWEAKS_ENABLE]
...
ViewAngleCam = 1 ; set to 1 to enable onboard camera view angle tweak
...
Change this to value 0.
