Hi Guys i was hoping you guys mite be able to help me now

for sometime now whenever i play gp4 just at random points the game will crash and ill get the box come up saying

An error has occurred Open the log file (GPxPatch will quit afterwards to free up resources)

Can anyone help so this thing will be a thing of the past

every 10 or so laps im always saving it in case it happens

Erm.....where is the error log? It contains the crash fault.....

Right it has just crashed again I've opened up the log file which is in note pad now what do I do?

hot allo !

try the following, using the team editor lok2 (if any) to edit the names of the pilots as well: ex.
if Sebastian Vettel, use only - Vettel
if Felipe Massa, use only - Massa
Finally, avoid using two names for each driver, use only one name for each pilot.
I do not know why this is more then I did this my gp4 never gave crash, I found this by chance.

It appears you are using a mobile with an on-board chip. Are you attempting to use Eyefinity?
Is this a standard track? Have you altered the wad or dat?

OK, to help my mate Craig I will explain his setup for you.

He is in possession of a very lovely top of the range 27" iMac (with all the extras!)

This is running BootCamp and Windows 7 64Bit

As you've found out above the iMac is generally a souped up laptop underneath (with a whopping screen attached to it!)

So yes the graphics system is integrated into the main board.

He did have issues with ZModeler which would not run (unable to detect 3D device on startup)

Although the 3D chipset is good enough some programs were unable to detect the type of graphics system the computer is running.

If you open up device manager it shows only that the display device is "Apple 3D Device" or something similar, sorry this is from memory.

I did consider installing the proper Windows drivers from manufacturer website rather the use the legacy Apple ones, but was concerned this may make things worse.

I'm not sure but I think Craig can run the normal game at 100% everything switched on without issue so my assumption is that one of the graphics effects that GPxPatch uses is causing the crash (e.g. reflections or bump mapping)

The computer also has GTR2 on it and I switched everything on that (43 cars and everything) and ran at the resolution of the desktop and there were no issues. And there's a lot going on in that program.

OK, thanks for the info, now I see why the graphics is falling over in a big way. I don't know enough about iMac running Win7 but the option of trying Win7 drivers is tempting to say the least. I'd certainly give it a go, nothing ventured nothing gained.

Yep, it's certainly worth a try.

As far as I'm aware Apple use the chipsets without any modifiction. Apart from that I understand they overclock slightly to get better performance (but I've only read that for the MacBook Pros).

I just need to find out what graphics chip it's running.

Probably you won't be able to run GP4 on Hardware Mode, hence the crash.
