yeah - the only way to have any credibilty

is to make the AI faster than they are in standard form

so it really takes an amzing lap to get pole etc. and that to win a race u need to have pushed flat out for 100% of the laps

also with no aids

if u dont do that - then it is too easy

one more thing - also do all that, 100% grandprix distance - realistic weather, all from COCKPIT view, NO AIDS

AND with no saves during the grandprix EVER.

PLUS ONLY USING YOUR OWN SETUPS - NOT LOADING OTHER PEOPLES

Then you will find it @#$%& hard to win the world championship!

you probably would but whats the point? people play to there own level, and if they succeed at that, its good, who cares if you cant win it racing micheal schumacher on a lan, or whatever.

If you prefer to have it easy and win the championship 18 times then whatever makes you happy!! I prefer to drive for mid field teams and fight for points and I always do 50% races coz its really close between the guys who pit and those who don't!!

AND with no saves during the grandprix EVER.

... if i tried that, i would not score one single point. lucky me i have a homerule that allows saving from time to time and maybe a restart after a crash :-)

(although this saving often breaks my concentration - so i might try without saving next season, we'll see)

100% without saving would mean having a couple of spare consecutive hours.
i dont have. and i'd sleep if i did.

so right now i'm happy doing lots of 0.001% races at monaco.

It took me a whole season to adjust the AI so it was really close (realistic) to this season and my speed. Pole is normally about 0.5 between the top 4 and the race normally won by 1-10 seconds.

Once you get the file to the way you want it I think it really bring gp4 alive!

I choose to save it once in 50% race.
No matter what happen in the closing laps, if I did some
mistakes or CTD, I must restart from where I save it.
Usually in the middle of the race.

BTW this is only game, you must get fun from it.
Like me, I can't fight the ace level, so I'm happy to
fight with the pro level.

Using the default set ups with Moribitos 2003 performance & physics files, I struggle to a top 6 finish at rookie level (auto gears, no aids, FF wheel & saves before each pit stop in full race distance, never time for full race at 1 sitting).

Would love to move up at least 1 level but problem is drastic lack of straight line speed no matter what I'm driving. In say Williams, Minardi & Jordan are 7 to 10 mph faster so any cornering gain is virtually wiped out on the next straight.

I have no real idea on setups & can't seem to do much about this problem. Using other peoples setups has produced more speed but seems to make the car swap ends far too easily, due to no rear end downforce even with a lot of wing.

The performance files say they are for pro\ace level. Does this mean they don't work properly at the other levels?

Even with this problem races are quite absorbing & it's still a thrill to start in the bottom half of the grid & finish 5th\6th. However it would be even better to move up a level or two & be challenging for a podium finish!

i race ACE level and the only aids i used this year are TC and auto gears

but soon, when i start my next season, i will use NO aids

as i have used NO aids at the last few GP's of this season and it actually makes the game feel more realistic. - therefor more joy for me

yes it is slower, but after a full 100% season i am sure i will have improved

i may leave mclaren, and join Jordan or Sauber, for my 1st full season without using aids.

Then i go back to a top team to try win the championship

about saving a game, if you have not tried it yet then YOU MUST try a full 100% length GP all in 1 go!

then you realise how long a race is! and how the real drivers need so much concentration not to make a mistake etc.

try it and u will see.

@Powerhorse

I always do 100% distance, TC, ace level, no saves, and what I found out is that I had a problem keeping concentration through out the race, I would do nicely in the first half but usualy make stupid mistakes on the 2nd half, I started trainnig a lot between races doing at least 30 laps to 40 laps and trying to keep focus, and I actualy improved a lot!
And I don't have to worry about g-forces, wind, visibility and stuff like that!
It really shows how hard racing really is!
