hiya. when i use ians sounds and have 3d hardware sound ticked. the t-cam engine sound is sometimes really quiet. if i untick it, i loose eax but my engine is fine. if i tick 2d hardware accellorated i loose kerbs. untick there back.

i dont have multi speaker ticked in windwos or gp4. windows is setup for monitor mounted speakers.

can you explain what these tick buttons do and why gp4 hates me :-o

1) In sound control panel, choose Desktop stereo speaker.
2) In your SC control config, turn-off EAX emulation, reverbs, effects, etc. Use default/generic settings.
3) In GP4, Turn on EAX, use 2 speaker.

Hope it help, 'coz I don't have SC sound card (yet). ;)

You mean Mandrake? (yellow clove)
Just beware Linux use small hidden partition for core system related data.

ok, a sample.

it playts a few seconds of silence so we can reflect on the seriousness of this problem ;) or becuse i didnt edit it :D

it starts in cockpit and i rev a few times, then it goes to t-cam. i flick between cockpit and t-cam on the start streight and spin on corner 2 (silverstone) and then flick between cockpit and t-cam and t-cam goes noisy again.

i tryed using 4 speaker mode in santa cruz. and when its quiet it only plays thru teh front speakers. when its noisy its thru all speakers.

i would now like to read a story you may remember......

"N.8. - Some Soundblaster PCI 128/SBLive! 5.1/Audigy card users have reported that the sound in cockpit/T-cam randomly goes very muted and almost inaudible. This has not been reported to happen with other soundcards or other Soundblaster cards. Reason unknown. Workaround: Change view to any external mode and change back, and the sound returns to normal. Medium to reproduce."

can we change that to santa cruz as well :) ;) i guess im stuck with it :(

Yup, it happen to me after playing few races without quitting GP4. Jon, check whenever you turn on AC3 output on your sound card, or make sure you're unplug the AC3 cable from sound card.

Be sure to update your last soundcard driver (which support DX9).

Your sound card had two output plugs to speaker, right? One for front speaker (cyan or green color) and one for rear (black color). Do not plug a cable into second one (with black color) unless you are using another speaker set plugged into it.

Latest driver for Santa Cruz was v4.193 at June 27, 2003. It was about 22Mb. You can download it at [ftp.voyetra.com]

Newest date doesn't mean better.
Do you remember what happened with NVidia, ATI, and FutureMark scandal?
Disguisting! I won't forgive those people. Cheaters.
