I know you make them as .tga files and then convert them to .tex files.

I can do that, but then it crashes when trying to load a track.

I think my .tga files are wrong, they need to be 24bit plus an 8bit alpha layer. Can someone tell me how to make my .tga in this format? I know nothing about alpha layers and the like.

Also, do the texture files need to be a certain size (mine is currently at 1024x1024)

Open the originals .tga files with any painting program like photoshop or Corel draw first. ( I prefer Corel cause I know how works it )
When the image is loaded you will see the select tool working on.( like a square around the texture )
In Corel draw there is a tool to save the mask ( this is the alpha channel and it works for reflecting lights and other effects ).
then save the mask to your harddisk or any other place.

After that load your .tga file and load from the saved place the mask file with the same tool now you will see loading up with your texture the alpha layer a select tool appears rounding your .tga file.

Beware that the originals alphas are very bad, but you can try or see Bojan`s and Viper`s work.

not having textures doesnt matter but maybe 24-bit willl ctd?
i dunno.
check other things.
if you use phodoshop open the channels palette and make a new one on your rgb tga.
then save as 32bit.

it must be a problem with my .tex file, when that's in the .wad it won't work.

so do you use 24 bit textures? because you didn't tell us that. never tried it myself, but it could be that that's the reason why it crashes.

Yeah, that's all PSP will let me select. I dunno how to change it to 32 with alpha tbh.
