well the normals are still a bit crap on the MC version, but just look at the UK version (or the original v1.0) because it will be the same car

The size of the cars.wad doesn't take effects to the game , the thing that takes effects is the size of single of textures file , my toyota will be only 2 1024x1024 textures , and if you like , you can use 512x512 one in the release version.
