yo yo yo

you prob have all heard the line "if it aint broke dont fix it". Well, GP4 was working perfecty. Well, then i wanted more FPS. So i sold my GF4 and bought a raddy 9800. The FPS increased - however now my sound makes a horrible ripping/cracking sound every 10 seconds or so. Now the raddy 9800 might just be a coincidence, but.....

Anyone know of any fixes?

I use nforce 2 onboard sound, have latest drivers/patches

i think you lower the soundcard hardware acceleration down 1 notch in multimedia box that is in control panel. Not 100% sure though.

Beardless, i have the same problem. New drivers didnt fix it, nor did old ones

Its not GP4 only

Put the longest MP3 on u can find and after a few min it begins to crackel

I cudnt fix it, nor cud the imcompetent tech staff

Eventually i stuffed in my SB Live! 5.1 card and got that working.

I used to have the same problem with an older SB and I fixed it just by NOT installing any drivers :)
sounds weird but just let Win XP use the default onces.
And that apparently seemed to work.

right, i have kinda fixed it. Turning down sound acceleration fixed it but the sound quality was terrible. Instead all i did was turn the volume of the "other cars" down to zero in the options and now no crackling.
