Some question

Hi, I'm still trying to find the best gfx settings, so I have some question :

1. I found this :


This thing is surely making my GP4 slow.
I'm running WinXP, but in Win98 this thing didn't show up.

2. In both XP and 98, if I use Antialiansing, the loading screen becomes blank, the only thing show up is the progress bar.
I use the original loading screen.

3. I found that using Nvidia detonator 29.42 is faster than 44.03.
The PO and fps is the same, but somehow I feel it faster.
Somebody feels the same as I do?

My spec is: P3 866Mhz, 256 SDRAM, DirectX 8.1, Inno3D GF4 MX440 SE 64DDR.

yes, i do. for older gfx-cards, older drivers might be better. my gf II ultra is still running on 12.41. i used to install every new version and got back to 12.41 again and again cause i always got less fps. now i dont care about new drivers. 12.41 is the best for my pc and gp3/4.

dont use antialiasing, it makes gp4 slow. not good for lower-specs like yours.

and if that "thing" doesnt show up in win 98se, it seems to be driver -related. dont let it bother you, just use 98se. better for gp4 on your machine anyway.

im running 40.72 with great results. These came on the CD with my GF 4 Ti.

I have some small gfx glitches every-so-often in GP4, slightly more noticeable in Toca Race Driver, and the smoke in Ghost Recon and other Tom Clancy Games turned green.

But i can live with it cos they are running great
