Just as a comparison Larry, we have nearly the same system(3ghz/800mhz fsb, 1gig pc3200 (400 ddr), rad 9800pro same vid drivers, sb live, winxp.

resolution is 1200x1024 frames set to 60. Fraps indicates @ lowest 38fps as just before cars enter the first corner then straight to 50+fps as they go by.....(rainy Silverstone)

P4 3.2ghz/800mhzFSB; XFX 7800GS; 2Gig PC3200(400mhz) DDR; Seagate SATA 10krpm HD x2 ;SB AudigyLS .

Well Mick, youv't got a bigger chunck of CPu than I have and that 9800 can make a difference. You too Elliot have a bit more processing power, but I have everything maxed. I am wondering whether to put dynamic em on again or not but I get good performance all the same. I need to tweak something or other still, but 35 fps is good.

I would suggest that if you set your FPS to 60 or whatever and you get fluctuations by a few fps around the track, it means your po is over-stepping itself and this will probably slow down some effects (feeling of speed) and may cause lagging in your controller. Anything over 30 fps looks just as good I would bet, so i would set the fps at a lower level (a shade be low the lowest you get on the most demanding track in the rain) This will still give you a very fast game and it might just be a tad more reponsive and "speedier" to look at.

Elliot, I reckon you could switch your mirrors on to all objects and drop your fps to around 40 maybe a bit below, and no problems.
