Radeon 9700pro + omega 26.40 = heaven

A couple of months ago I was struggling with low fps, especially in races. I was down to 16 fps at the beginning of a race (my FPs were set to 33). I overcame this to alarge extent by optimising certain Bios settings. I wa getting 21-22 fps on the grid.

However I recently uninstalled my cat drivers and replaced them with 26.40 Omegas (hacked version). WoW! :-0. On the grid my FPS (now at 37 fps) stayed right there. At the back of the grid, same thing. I turned on the rain at Silverstone. Back of the grid dropped slighty 35-36 fps but stabilised to 37 again once we got moving.

Replay of the race in the rain? a steady 37 fps. I'll stick with these omegas. Blooming marvellous. Oh and i'm driving at 1280x1024 everything on including haze but mipmapping on static. This game is beautiful. So you Radeon owners go try out these drivers.

The guy who does these drivers did the same for Nvidia drivers until Nvidia's lawyer phoned him. Have a read of the story on thefront page of his web site. I was about to say that he stopped optimising Nvidia drivers until I just looked at his site. It seems that TODAY 19th July, Nvidia have changed their mind and will actually start to cooperate with him They're not stupid after all. Go here and read:

Kepp in mind that Omega optimizes the drivers for image quality not performance although I have read some people also get better perfomance with his drivers.

it says that when they install you get the choice between performance and image

Erm wow these are amazing.

I couldn't run F1C very well without slowdown or wheel lag, with my Geforce4mx 420, P4, 256mb ram (yes really). With these Omega drivers, installed over 44.03 NVIDIA WHQL drivers, I can run the game with max details, with little slowdown and no wheel lag.

Get them now, whether you've got an ATI or NVIDIA card!

I downloaded these drivers last night and thanks to Larry's post I remembered to install them.This set is pretty good so far.3dmark went up more then a hundred marks once I overclocked my 8500le to 250/250 and GP4 seems to smoother,still doesn't fix my driving though.Lol

It does say they're not drivers for which you should try and increase your 3d mark score, but there is obviously an increase in quality!

I just put envionmental mapping on dynamic. 37 fps hols here too. Siverstone back of the grid at the start dropped to 33 fps and back up to 37 once we got moving. Those reflections do bring something extra although here and there they may be a little overdone.

and it made no difference to my GP4 at alll...still runs like crap

Before i put in any modded cars in, it ran great, now it just runs stupidly slow thanks to cars with stupidly high poly counts and mega textures

No 2003 ferrari at all for anyone who wants an FPS they can live with without a super comp? :|

i have a radeon 9200, will these drivers help me?, i run at 25 fps pretty well right now with the latest cataylst drivers, should i d/l and install?, Will this driver cause other conflicts with other games or apps?

Dave did you choose quality or performance? I chose performance, and the extra gain in FPS enabled me to crank up some quality settings manually, did the trick.

I have no conflicts in other games and I believe you should be able to use them. Why not try? If they don't work so well, uninstall and reinstall your cats.
