change the timing of the marshals

Good morning all,
I would like to change the timing of the marshals intervention in GP4.
On some MODS (1993 for example), they intervene much too quickly which gives sometimes eccentric race results (Letho wins 3 GP in the season...)
Thank you for your help, I have GP4, CSM and Tweaker.
Sorry for the mistakes, I use google translate

Hello,

No one can help me?

I don't think there is known parameter which controls the timing of the marshals. However there is a parameter in the magic data of a track that controls the amount of track sectors which are clear regarding the spin recovery car range. How lower the value, how quicker the car will rejoin the track.

My Grand Prix 4 Files

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?

Hello and thank you for your feedback.

I'm playing on MOD 1993, the damage on GP Tweaker is 200% and I'm the only one to finish the race.
As soon as a driver leaves the track, the marshals intervene immediately, so abandonment.

Set your gptweaker damage to 100 %

Hello and thank you for your feedback.
I totally set the damage to 0%, so the cars are indestructible, but that doesn't change the speed at which the marshals intervene.
As soon as a pilot leaves the track, in less than 5 seconds he abandons by the intervention of the marshals.
This only happens in the 1993 mod, the other mods are OK and since I play a lot with this one...

Your problem seems very strange to me, (I would have gone with what Turbo Lover recommended), but:

Surely, the question you need to be asking is why are so many cars leaving the track?

Does it happen at every track in 93 or just one/some of them?

If it's all of them, are you using one performance file for all the races, or do you have a different one for each race?

If you're only using one, it's probably faulty. Post it here for us to see.

If different ones, is GPxPatch linking to a physics file? If so, it's probably broken. Try un-selecting it in GPxPatch*

If on the other hand, it's only happening one track (or just some of them), trying a new track dat (or a magic data file) might help.

*If you have ever editing the physics file and saved it to the GP4.exe, try another GP4.exe file (you shouldn't save physics directly to the file, always call it from GPxPatch).

Hope some of that makes sense...

OK. Thanks. Looks like the performance file might be to blame. I'm not sure, but it looks very suspicious (and illogical) to me:

Replace the values marked in bold to something more sensible:

[Team #09]
Name=Sauber,Ilmor
Performance=680,760,4500
First Driver=29,Karl Wendlinger,14590,700,15400,1000,AT

Second Driver=20,Erik Comas,14690,500,13200,12000,FR

A value of 1000 will do.

Thanks Noog, but that doesn't change the track marshals business.
I did a test with 100% rain, as a simple spectator, 1 car at the finish (Berger).
And on the GP patch file you don't see anything?

Hmm...

Are you sure the cars are actually crashing, i.e. not just running out of fuel, or breaking down from some other problem?

And this problem is happening all tracks, right?

It's a very strange thing and I'm running out of ideas.

What happens if you try to use the GP4.exe file from another mod?

(The game might crash, so use the GP4.exe from a mod with similar teams, like 1992, if you have it).

Hello,
This only happens on the 1993 mod, I have no issues with the others.
Too bad and thank you for your help.

You're welcome.

Just a thought: are you using the 1993 mod from TomMKs site?

If not, I'd recommend it.

Yes, that's the one I play with.
I'll uninstall it, reinstall I'll see.
Good day.

Well in that case, you could try this one.. I assumed you'd already be using it, because I think it's a more recent release, which is why I suggested the other one last time.

False lead unfortunately. I uninstalled, reinstalled.
When a driver leaves the track, the game forces him to let the oncoming cars pass.
And the marshals intervene before all the cars pass.
I even put the traction control back in case, but no.
Anyway, thank you all again for your help.
Good day

Then you need to do what turbolover said. Set the spin recovery range to 4 for each track. Default is about 64 and it's always too high. 4 is plenty.

Just above spin recovery range in the MD file you'll see 'cc error chance' too. That defaults to about 80 on most tracks, but you can take that down to zero if you want.

What file is this in?

The data lives in the track.DAT.

However, to edit it, you need to change it into a text format. So here's what you do:

1. Get cmagic4.exe

2. Drop cmagic4.exe into the folder where your circuit DATs are (either /gp4/ or gp4/circuits probably).

3. Double click cmagic4.exe

4. Browse to the track dat in the GP4 Track file area

5. Then, from the Cmagic4 menu, select "create magic data from track file" - give it a name and save it

6. Now you have a file called "whatever.md3" wherever you saved it. THAT'S the magic data file (ie the MD)

7. Open it in notepad, scroll down to where it says spin recovery range, change the number to 4. Save it.

(Note that this file that you have created is NOT used by the game: so now you need to upload your edited data into the track.DAT)

8. In cmagic4, browse to your new xxxx.md3 file, select it and click the 'Insert data' button.

OK. Now you're done FOR THAT TRACK. You now need to repeat the procedure for all the other tracks.
