Just got GP4, have a couple of minor problems.

Got the game yesterday and I'm really enjoying it: the renaming drivers feature is super fun and simulating AI races is pretty fantastic. However, I have a couple of small issues.

The first and probably most minor is that the game refuses to recognize my GTX 1060 and adamantly ensures it uses my Intel integrated GPU at all times. It's not major, but it means I have to run the game with really poor graphics. Is there any way to get my 1060 to work?

The second is that I can't seem to setup my Xbox One controller, the game refuses to save any of my configs and keeps reverting acceleration and braking to the analog stick and not the LT and RT triggers.

The third and biggest issue is the game refuses to save or load anything. Any championship seasons I start have the 'save' option greyed out in the options menu and when loading from the physical files it just says 'no error' and reverts back to Australia, Round 1. It also happens with driver name files, graphical configs, control configs... basically any saveable file. I've done two clean reinstalls, still no difference. I've attached a screenshot below.


I'm using the GP4 iso and the 7zip pack with GPXpatch. Any help would be massively appreciated.

In terms of the graphics card, try disabling the integrated chip through the BIOS if you can - it'll be different for every motherboard so if you're looking up how to do it make sure it's for your particular one!

About the graphic card not appearing; try to put the d3d8.dll-File in your main gp4 folder.

I'm running the game on Windows 10 Home, and files are installed on my.C: drive in Program Files/Infogrames.

I've looked at the FAQ but got a bit confused and couldn't figure out a solution.

I tried disabling the Intel chip but as far as I know the game didn't run on the 1060 as the framerate was exactly the same, the game chugged with higher graphics and the GTX1060 didn't show up - the game just kept repeating 'that it was a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter' or something.

C: drive in Program Files folder might be write protected in case of Win 10.
GP4 is an old program and save file is in the installation directory (not in user documents folder like modern program case)
Try to install somewhere else outside of the program files, preferably not to C drive.

hello, if possible, install the GP4 in another partition, the "C" drive should be so only for the operating system, when installing the files directs them to the root of the GP4 (Grand Prix 4), good fun.

You don't need to install it on another drive, just not in the program/program files folder. Creating a C:\Games\GP4 path will do nicely.

For the graphics card, this file solves it! It worked for me

Or what is even better.With gpxpatch, it is portable. Just copy GP4 folder, and it should work. I have installed each mods with its own folder so i have 20 differnt GP4

Not a good idea. Get something like DGvoodoo instead. It works well.

I've just extracted the D3D8.dll file into my newly reinstalled GP4 directory, but it unfortunately hasn't fixed the problem with my dedicated graphics. I'll try 'DGvoodoo' as suggested. Will see if saving files works now.

The issue with saving is fixed once you play with GPX patch installed and run the game through that.
