SEASON 14, British GP Free PractiseThe GPGSL welcomes everyone to today's Free Practise Session, where a champion will emerge after today's short and sharp session.
Championship leader Glen Sheppard holds a 4 pt lead, but with no boost at this final round, will he be a sitting duck for the likes of the chasing pack of O'Brien, Greenhalgh, Beggani and Cronin, all who are boosted. Time will tell....
So, with no further delays due to inadequate word processing excuses or reasons, let's head trackside.....
Weather for today's WTC Title Decider : Perfect. No excuses...
The first man to complete a lap today, is Zak Cronin...
One of the WTC title hopefuls, Chris Hollidge takes the top spot straight off Cronin....
Chris Copeman 3/4 a second off the pace set by Hollidge....
Giovanna Michail in the AMR, just over 6 tenths off the pace...
John Maverick in his MTP marginally slower than Hollidge, clocks on with the 2nd best lap so far...
Rodrigo Vilela in the DMR just over half a second off the pace...
Nata Cremasco mid pack so far, with the 4th fastest time....
Right behind his boss on track, Bence Szucs can't get near his team leader's lap time....
Michael Soutsen just over half a second off the pace with his first flying lap...
A rough chance of taking the WTC titlem, Nico Beggani sets a very good first flying lap of the session
And the final driver of the first group of drivers on the circuit, Nathan McGregor storms straight to the top of the charts, by a healthy margin in the MAC Racing entry....
The second MAC of Sandro Calligaris leads the second group of cars onto the circuit.
He goes 7th fastest...
Aidan Keranan in the Alpha down in 9th after his first run....
Anderson Savio in the MTP with the 8th fastest lap of the session...
GPGSL veteran Ed Greenhalgh goes 5th....
Luke Russell will not be happy with 14th so far....
SCR team owner Mal Stoddart has the 7th fastest lap after his first flying lap is done....
SCR team mate John Warrington a little slower than his boss, goes to 9th...
Title hopeful Greg O'Brien puts in a good lap, putting him in 6th - a nice start to his chase for the title....
Dominik Karda a bit down on the pace, winds up 14th with that first lap....
Championship leader Glen Sheppard way off the pace, in 18th with his first lap. Kiss the title goodbye....
Stuart Ingers moves into 14th after his first flyer in the AMR at his home GP....
All drivers now on the timesheets, with their first flying laps done....
1 lap to go for all drivers, and a Test Drivers Champion to be decided.......
Michael Soutsen is first back on track, and he improves on his earlier lap....
Zak Cronin shaves some time off his earlier lap....
Beggani also improves, doing his best to stay in the championship hunt....
Copeman improves his time, but languishes down in 18th....
Cremasco makes up a fraction of time, putting himself into 8th - that won't be enough for him to impact the title race....
Szucs takes a chunk of time off his earlier lap, but will finish out of the points today....
Vilela joins the trend of improving his lap time in the DMR....
Provisional fastest lap stays with McGregor, who is unable to match his earlier laptime....
Michail improves the laptime, but not the position on the timesheets...
Hollidge doesn't improve, but is well placed to take some big points in this final session - can the Brit snatch the WTC title with this effort??!!
Maverick jumps to 3rd, helping the chances of Hollidge in the title race...
The final run done for the 1st wave of drivers. 11 laps to be logged, and the title race is wide open. Sheppard, O'Brien and Hollidge all realistic chances, IF the racing Gods smile on them....
Keranen can't improve....
Stoddart up to 9th....
Calligaris stays in 14th for now....
O'Brien with a great lap, which may be just enough to earn him the title....
Karda can't find any more speed out of the Atlantic entry...
Greenhalgh up to 2nd with a fantastic lap.... Calculators along the pit wall are frantically doing the championship sums - The Aussie can't win it...
Savio improves, but only manages 15th best....
Ingers fails to better his earlier time....
Sheppard improves, but only to 10th at this stage - points, but not enough to hold on to the title lead....
Warrington well off the pace with his final lap....
Russell improves, but is stuck way down at the tail of the field...
And the final results after the session has been completed....
