Good day and greetings.
I have the original disk of GP4 and have played it a lot a long time ago on an XP machine.
I now have a windows 10 laptop and I'm struggling to get the program to start.
After reading many similar posts on this and other forums I have followed this installation method:
Install GP4 in it's own folder on C:
Download and unzip patch 9.6
Copy patch-gp4.exe over gp4.exe
install GPxPatch 4.52
set both for run as admin and xp-sp2
start GPxPatch
And this is where I hit a brick wall.
I receive an error message resulting in this log:
Starting log
GPxPatch version: 4.52
GPx version detected: encrypted GP4 v1.02
Date/time: 18-03-2019 17:13
Verbosity level is 0
OS version info: Windows XP Service Pack 3 build 2600
Total physical memory: 6038 MB (free: 2918 MB)
Executing gp4.exe
*** error terminating process: (5) Access is denied.
I've tried a million other combinations to try and get anything at all to happen but to no avail.
Could it have something to do with the fact that I'm using the disk version instead of a decrypted download? If so where is a safe place to download the decrypted version?
Because of the "access is denied" comment on the log I was wondering if it could be something to do with my security settings or virus checker.
I use McAfee but there doesn't seem to be any program specific options on their menus and it all seems to be aimed at internet use.
Any help would be appreciated - my daughter is off to the Hungary Grand Prix this year and I thought it might be fun to let her drive around it first.
