GP4 - no race

I need some help here.
The game (GP4) stops everytime I try to run a race.
I can se every other thing in the game but can't run a race.
I got sound too.
My pc is a 1.8 Ghz, 32 RAM graphic, WinXP and DirectX8.1 is installed.
What do I do (wrong) ?????

install 9.6 patch and GPxPatch

I have had the same problem in the past.
I found it was the cars.wad file causing the problem.

Have you modified it recently?
If so,did you back-up your previous Cars.wad!!!

Have a look at the download section of this site [www.grandprixgames.org]

9.6 patch is the official patch to upgrade your Gp4 to ver. 1.02
unzip the file to any directory and run setup.exe (just copying files to your Gp4 order won't do the trick, you need to run setup!)

GpxPatch is third party add-on. It is THE tool you won't miss for the world. it offers TV-style timing graphics, the possibility to use different performance files, liveries, etc, etc. Without it Gp4 (and Gp3) are not even half as good.

ur probelm is that u changed ur race pitcrew using CSC
i am sure of that
if u want to change them u better do it just like u do when adding a new car shape or tex to the cars.wad

I haven't changed anything. Just installed the game - tried both full and minimum install, but the game shuts down after loading the track.
Even when I try to calibrate the graphics at the start of the game !

i opened up nurburgring and couldnt find it in there

My guess is you need different driver OR what happens with me, is that it crashes after loading when I hibernate.

Having just decided to do the update to 2003 by myself using a variety of tools, I backed up my 3 main files, cars.wad, gp4.exe, and anim.wad. I updated the helmets, names, track graphics, cars, menu graphics, basically everything. I ran the game, it worked, so I backed it up again. Realising Toyota pit crew was wrong I thought I shall do that as well now. I put the 2003 pit crews in using CSC4 and it crashed my game, luckily I had backed up my anim.wad file.


Basically, if your game screws because you just updated pit crew graphics, its your anim.wad.
