SOLVED...Switching between player controlled cars

Hi all,

I've noticed recently that the player can select to control more than one driver in the driver selection screen. For example select both drivers of the same team.

My question is, how do you change between the drivers you have selected during a race? So far I have only been able to do this when I crash out with one of the drivers selected, but I want to switch and allow the ai to control the driver I've moved away from.

Thanks for the help
Richard

Don't think it's possible?
Always been determined by a set amount of time depending on "number of turns in hot seat mode" I believe?

I remember trying it out once and it wouldn't work...

I've solved it...

Choose the drivers you want to race as and press 'J' on the keyboard twice. this will then countdown from 5 until you hand over control, game flicks to the other driver you selected automatically and then count down from 5 until you take control of the other driver.

This has solved my gaining advantage problem in the pits :) the ai driver the pitlane and I take back over.
Wow, so this is a vanilla GP4 feature? If so, I didn't know about it.

Thank you. :-)

It feels quite amazing to learn new things about a game that's 16 years old (omg) and which I'm playing with for about 14-15 years... :)

From my point of view it’s great to give something back to the community. If the cam edit gets in the way, I think you can just hit tab until it’s off and then use the J key.

I tested it this morning and it’s def a double tap on the J key though. I was messing about moving between Webber and Vettel, asking both to pit and trying the undercut.
This has been a feature since Grand Prix 2 ;)

This is not a vanilla GP4 feature. I built this feature into GPxPatch (GPxLap).

in that case you are the man!! It's made pitstops loss times perfect for me now because i simply hand over control to the ai just before pit and then take back over just after....no advantage!
People didn´t know about this? :D like said above, has been there since gp2 days already, always have played championship seasons with my brother (both taking 4-5 drivers and AI drives with the rest).

This has however one downside, it´s that tyre wear doesn´t work like it would be ideal, for example if you have 4 drivers, your first driver will suffer the most as he has heavy fuel load/tyres wear and when you change to the 3rd 4th driver it has no tyrewear and lower fuel load (depending has the pitstop been made) so you will do much much faster laptimes, than with the driver you first started with. tyrewear works, when AI controls your cars but when you take the control, tyrewear starts from zero.

I don't think GP2 had this. I also didn't add it to GP2Lap. Surely it had hotseat mode, but pressing 'J' key to force it to go to the next state immediately was added in GPxLap.

SDI thanks for programming this feature. Without GPxLap, pressing 'J' key dont work.
