Try right clicking the brake balance in the car setup menu. It will take you to the GPedia which will explain it all for you.

It's only after we've lost everything, that we are free to do anything.

The difference is that

More brake power to the front = Front wheels locking easier = understeer whilst braking
More brack power to the rear = Rear wheels locking easier = oversteer whilst braking.

So by adjusting the brake balance, you can try to find an optimum braking power in both the wheels, which means that the car is less likley to lock its brakes when braking heavily.

Hope this helps

basic rules are:

if you are on a high speed track - set your brake bias forwards

if you on a slow speed track - set it backwards a bit

itis all about 'the balance'

if you are suffering from oversteer, then DONT set the brake bias rearwards as you will not transfer the weight of the car to the front as much and will only highten the oversteer.

and vice versa.

just play with it.
