Welp that's a surprise

Team China

2nd. Fantastic result for Cheng. All we need now is a clean race and that may just be enough for Cheng to have a chance to challenge for the race victory.

GPG Nations Cup Rd 3 Portuguese GP – Race Day

Part 1

Hello once again. We’re back here at Estoril where we are ready to get Rd 3 underway. On pole is Cremasco, and alongside him is Tung. These two drivers were contenders for the title in Season 5 so it will be interesting to see who will be the better driver out of the two here today. The cars can be heard returning from the warmup lap, so it’s time to head trackside as we get set for the start.

Weather Report

Here we go. All the cars are now lined up and we are set for a start. Cremasco is on pole, and Tung is alongside. Who will win the run down into the first corner? We’ll find out shortly.

They’re off!

We have some close battles near the rear of the field.

Silva is up to 4th.

Saputra looks to have been the big loser off the line as he has lost a few positions.

Back to the front as we see Silva go for a move on Pryce. We also see that Cremasco has taken the fastest lap.

Silva succeeds and moves up into 3rd.

Bobby finds himself behind De Boer.

Behind him, both Tyrson and Keranen are doing their best to close in.

Cremasco has a comfortable lead over Tung.

Likewise, Tung has a comfortable gap between himself and Silva.

Vukcevic is going for a move on Saputra.

And he gets it done.

McGregor has managed to get ahead of Tafuro.

Here are the standings for the top 10.

Hatfield is down in 20th having lost a few positions.

This will explain why he lost the positions.

The lead for Cremasco has increased.

Saputra is under attack again, this time from Grimaldi.

Another position lost for the Indonesian driver.

We have a car off the track, and it appears to be Vukcevic.

Replay shows he went off on his own. De Boer is very lucky to not make contact with the Montenegro car as it came back onto the track.

Hatfield is in to get his Throttle fixed.

Vukcevic gets going again.

Hatfield is off the track. This is a weird moment for him as he just left the pits after fixing his Throttle.

Replay shows he went off in the same way as Vukcevic. However, he wasn’t quite so fortunate and ended up hitting the wall.

Prost is off the track as well and that’s his day done.

Replay shows the moment of impact.

We have a battle taking place between Kederer and Kuei.

Maslov looks to be in trouble.

He’ll need to park it somewhere close to a fire marshal pretty soon.

Kederer isn’t quite close enough yet to attempt a pass on Kuei.

Tyrson is doing his best to hold back Rodriguez.

Maslov finally brings his car to a stop.

It’s very close now between these cars.

Tyrson manages to stay ahead of Rodriguez. Kuei meanwhile stays behind Keranen.

De Boer has managed to get ahead of McGregor.

Silva will be happy with where he currently stands in the race.

Let’s take a look at the current standings.

Time for our first ad break. We hope to be back again soon.

Team Ireland

Looking good for Tyrson, he's really hungry for points! Hope the next part is all or nothing.
GPG Nations Cup Rd 3 Portuguese GP - Race Day

Part 2

Welcome back.

We return to find Tafuro going for a move on Saputra.

The Italian gets it done.

Further back, Kederer has managed to get ahead of Kuei.

Vukcevic hasn’t been able to recover the ground he lost after going off the track earlier.

The lead for Cremasco continues to increase.

The gap between Tung and Silva has also increased, and it looks like Pryce is closing in on the battle.

Grimaldi sits in 5th, though he will be hoping to have a chance to close in on the cars ahead of him.

Tyrson still has the advantage over Rodriguez.

Back to Silva, and it looks like both Pryce and Grimaldi have closed in a lot.

Another lap or two and Grimaldi will be hoping he can make a move.

Kederer has opened up the gap between himself and Kuei.

It’s much closer now between Grimaldi and Pryce.

Grimaldi goes for a move, but at the same time Pryce runs wide.

Pryce recovers, but has lost a position to both Grimaldi and Tafuro in the process.

Replay shows he went wide on his own.

Saputra is next in line to make a move on the reigning champion.

And he manages to get it done.

That now leaves Pryce to have to defend from McGregor.

De Boer has a gap between himself and Bobby so he won’t have to worry about what is behind him for quite some time.

It looks like Kederer has managed to get ahead of Keranen.

Pryce is off into the sand.

He managed to keep it out of the wall, but now has to wait for everyone to go through.

He rejoins, but now sits in last place. He’ll not be impressed with himself.

Vukcevic has closed in on Silvestre.

As we go onboard with Cremasco, let’s take a look at the standings.

Silva is much closer to Tung.

Further back, McGregor is on the rear of Saputra.

He goes for a move.

And the Australian gets it done.

Oh no, Tung has lost a rear wheel and Tafuro has damage to his car. What has happened?

There’s even more damage as McGregor has run into Tafuro.

Replay shows that Tung ran wide and off the track while defending from Silva.

He managed to keep it off the wall, but as he rejoined he was hit from behind by Tafuro.

As for McGregor, he had nowhere to go to try and avoid making contact, and is no doubt the innocent bystander.

The view of the incident from McGregor’s view.

Now Silvestre is off the road and is missing his rear wing.

He manages to get going again, but will need to pit for repairs.

As a result of the retirements for Tung, McGregor and Tafuro, Kederer now finds himself up inside the top 10.

In comes Silvestre to get his rear wing fixed.

Let’s check out the standings again as we ride onboard with Silva.

Time for us to take another break. We hope to be back again soon.

TEAM UAE

Carnage, bad mistake for us and out dead last. Good thing is we used no boost.
Team France:

Obviously for us the most important thing is that Romain is okay after his accident.
It was of course disappointing to go out like that so early - especially when everyone else's troubles means we might have a had a chance at a decent result - but this weekend was always going to be about damage limitation for us.

Very disappointing way for our race to come to an end. Cheng must've let the pressure get to him while defending 2nd from Silva which is what caused him to run off the track. Just unfortunent that Tafuro ended up hiitting the rear of the car as Cheng was recovering. Anyways, we'll regroup for the next round and hopefully be back in position to challenge for the win once again.

The expected survival of the fittest, knew why I didn't dare to use a boost here.

No way out of this drama :-(

GPG Nations Cup Rd 3 Portuguese GP - Race Day

Part 3

We’re back once again.

Silvestre is back out on the track after taking his unscheduled stop, but is now a lap down.

Saputra will not want to be stuck behind for longer than he needs to be.

3rd for Grimaldi would be great for his championship chances.

Saputra has managed to get ahead of Silvestre.

Kederer is chasing down Rodriguez.

Pryce must surely be thinking what could’ve been had he not run off the track.

Silva was lucky to not get caught up in Tung’s incident before.

Pitstops are now underway.

Next up to lap Silvestre is De Boer.

Silva rejoins the track in front of both Vukcevic and Kuei.

In comes Cremasco from the lead.

More cars are also in.

De Boer is held up slightly as he waits for Keranen to go into his pit bay.

He rejoins in front of Bobby.

Grimaldi and Saputra are in, and that gives the lead back to Cremasco.

Grimaldi rejoins ahead of Vukcevic, and more crucially he has also rejoined in front of Silva.

However, Grimaldi has to be careful not to damage his new tyres as he does his best to defend his position.

We have more cars in for their stop.

With all cars having now pitted, let’s check out the current standings.

Grimaldi will be slightly relieved now that he doesn’t have to defend his position.

Silva on the other hand will be wanting to close in on the Monaco driver to try and retake 2nd back.

Bobby is running just outside the top 5. He’ll be pretty pleased with this result should he manage to stay there.

Further up the road is De Boer.

The gap between Grimaldi and Silva is looking quite big.

According to the timing, Rodriguez isn’t too far behind Bobby.

We have a yellow out.

Here’s the reason why. Kederer has gone off at turn 1.

Cremasco goes through as the marshal recovers the Germany car from the sandtrap.

Grimaldi has gotten ahead of Silvestre, but that may have cost him time as he attempts to try and close in on Cremasco.

The split shows De Boer in front of Rodriguez. That shows that Rodriguez managed to get ahead of Bobby.

Tyrson now sits behind Bobby.

Keranen probably wasn’t expecting to score points here today.

Vukcevic is in 11th. Considering what happened to him earlier, it has been a great comeback so far.

Let’s check out the standings again.

Saputra can be seen not far behind Silva.

4th would still be considered a great result for the Indonesian.

It’s still close between Bobby and Tyrson.

Time for our final break. When we return, we’ll be going to the end.

Could be a potential good point finish if only we surviwed the mayhem...

P8 and in the points for the Irishman. Now close to USA for 7th, hopefully a good pass from there.
GPG Nations Cup Rd 3 Portuguese GP - Race Day

Part 4

Welcome back for the final time.

Tyrson will be hoping to have his chance to make a move as soon as he can.

Looks like the chance to make a move is now on.

He succeeds in getting ahead.

Further back, Vukcevic is closing in on Kuei for his chance to get back inside the top 10.

He looks close enough now to make his move.

And he succeeds in getting ahead.

Pryce is next in line to make a move on the South Korean driver.

At this rate, it’s safe to say that this race is Cremasco’s to win or lose.

It looks like the gap between Silva and Saputra has increased slightly.

Rodriguez is slowly closing in on De Boer.

Pryce is getting closer to Kuei.

He goes for a move.

However, Kuei succeeds in defending her position.

He tries again to get ahead.

This time around, he gets it done.

Oh no! Silva has lost a front wheel and is now out of his home race. He’ll be devastated with this.

Replay shows that Saputra was very close behind.

Then by himself, Silva ran wide in a similar way to Prost earlier in the race and made contact with the wall.

The view from Saputra shows how Silva ran wide.

With Silva now out, that leaves Grimaldi secured in 2nd.

The gap between De Boer and Rodriguez doesn’t look to have changed much.

Further back, Vukcevic has managed to close in on Keranen.

He goes for a move on the Finland driver.

And he succeeds in getting ahead.

5 laps left to go.

Not long after disposing of Keranen, Vukcevic is now on the back of Bobby.

Running wide isn’t going to help his chances.

As a result, Keranen is now back onto the rear of the Montenegro car.

Here is the current top 10 standings. Biggest movers so far goes to both De Boer and Rodriguez.

Tyrson looks secured in 6th.

3 laps left to go.

Not long left to go now for Cremasco.

Vukcevic is back onto the rear of the USA car.

Saputra is on track to finish the race where he started.

Ever since his off that resulted in a broken rear wing, Silvestre hasn’t been able to move up from last position.

Cremasco comes through the final corner for the last time.

And he takes the chequered flag to win the Portuguese GP. That makes it back to back wins for the Brazilian, and add in the victory he took in the Season 5 finale makes it his third win from the last four races. No doubt he’ll be extremely pleased.

Grimaldi takes 2nd.

Saputra takes the final podium position.

With that, our coverage now comes to an end. Congratulations Nathan Cremasco and Team Brazil, the winner of Rd 3. His second win of the season should see the Brazilian extend his championship lead. It was unfortunate about what happened to both Tung and Silva here today. Tung was sitting in 2nd at the time when he went off and was collected by Tafuro, and Silva was sitting in a podium position when he went off as well. No doubt they’ll be hoping for a much better outcome come the next round. Anyways, we hope you enjoyed our coverage. We’ll see everyone back here again next time when we bring you the coverage for Rd 4. So until then, it’s goodbye from Estoril.
