@AUS_Doug Yeah I used to render out occlusion textures in about same amount of time with my old PC.
As I said earlier it takes insanely long time on my new PC to do the same. I tried In 2 different Maya versions and it is same.
I was reading into it yesterday suspecting that it is some CPU or graphic card setting, found no thing.
However I found xNormal [
www.xnormal.net]. A small application that generates all kind of maps AO included. And it is fast, I mean really fast!
It takes about minute! to get Ambient Occlusion map generated
and that were 4096x4096 textures.
The result is not bad either from what I could see in short time I've tested this.
Down side is it renders in one map, meaning 2 textures will be clamped over each other, which mean I had to isolate all faces with one texture map and delete everything else save. and then repeat all that for second texture.
I guess with all that work in mind you still can get AO maps under one hour (easy) witch is great.
Sorry to hijack this tread like this.
