It means what it says basically.

The .dat file doesn't have any Magic Data in it.

This can be for a couple of reasons.

1) If it is an original Grand Prix 4 .dat, then the Magic Data is stored in the GP4.exe.

In CMagic, click Edit->Create Magic File from GP4.EXE and you will be prompted for a track number.

This will get the Magic Data from the .exe, and store it in an appropriately named file.

If you select track '1' (Melbourne), the Magic Data file generated will be called 'magic4_01.md3'

2) If it is a custom track, the creator might have intended for it to use the original Magic Data.

For example, if I made changes to the original Interlagos circuit that were only graphical, it would still be fine to use the original Interlagos Magic Data.

So, is this a track you downloaded from somewhere?

EDIT: Man I type slowly these days.

Maybe Boniaski speaks about Sochi. There's not magic data file but there's a problem with this track. With rain, the entry in the pits become a multi-car collision. I think it's necessary to change something in the magic data file.
