GPGSL Rd 13 Oceanic GP – Testers Feature Race

Part 1

Hello and welcome to Mt Panorama Bathurst, the venue for Rd 13 of the GPGSL. The test drivers are taking part in a feature race here today, and the qualifying session that we witnessed was quite close between the pole sitter and 2nd. What can we expect to see here today? All will be answered over the course of the race. The cars can be heard returning from the warmup lap, so let’s head trackside for the start.

Weather Report

The cars have all returned from the warmup lap, and we are now set for a start. Greidanus is on pole, with Hinz alongside him on the front row. De Boer and Sheppard make up the second row. Hopefully we are in for a cracker of a race here today. When the lights go out, it’s go time.

They’re off! Hinz looks to have made a great start, while Greidanus looks to have made a terrible start.

Hinz leads the pack up Mountain Straight.

Into Griffins Bend, and De Boer looks to be under attack from Vilela.

Bit further back, Keranen finds himself defending from Warrington. Even further back through the field sits Horvath.

Sheppard is doing his best to close in on Hinz as they make their way down into The Dipper.

He closed in a bit closer through Forrest’s Elbow, and now has a chance to make his move down Conrod Straight into The Chase.

However, Hinz manages to keep his position.

De Boer has a look up the inside of Greidanus into Hell Corner, and manages to make the move stick.

McClure and Silva are engaged in a battle of their own.

Silva is the winner of this battle, at least for now.

Next in line to attempt to get by Greidanus is McGregor.

The Australian has managed to get ahead going into The Chase.

Warrington managed to get ahead of Keranen, and now sets his sights on McClure’s 8th position.

The One driver failed to get by, which has allowed Keranen to close in and make an attempt to get his position back.

The timing shows how the top 10 have moved since race start.

Ingers currently sits in 12th, and with Hinz currently leading it means that both HiDef AMRs are the bookends of the points positions.

Let’s check out the current standings as we ride onboard with Pellatt.

Scala looks pretty close to the back of Pellatt’s Shadow, and may have a chance to make a move soon.

Unseen by the cameras, Vilela has managed to get ahead of Greidanus.

McGregor takes the fastest lap as he continues to close in on De Boer.

McClure is under attack from Warrington.

The One driver succeeds in getting by, leaving the Demon driver to have to defend from Keranen.

Looks like the Kangaroos are once again hanging around.

Back to the front, and McGregor now looks close enough to make his move.

He gets ahead, but hasn’t sealed it yet.

Unfortunately for the MAC driver, De Boer was able to keep ahead.

Vilela has now closed in on McGregor.

Collins is having a tough day here as he currently sits in last position.

We have a replay showing that Gilson has managed to get ahead of Horvath.

That looks to be too close between Silva and Pellatt as the MPR driver makes an attempt at passing.

Both drivers managed to get away with it. However the move has allowed Stoddart to close in on the MPR.

Sanvitale is currently closing in on Cremasco.

Back to the front, and we have a move being made by Sheppard for the lead.

The Demon driver makes his stick, and now leads the feature race.

The rear of the field are all in their own battles.

Onboard with Hinz, and we can see that Sheppard has already increased his lead by quite a lot. The timing shows just how big the lead is out to.

Silva goes up the inside of Greidanus and succeeds in getting ahead.

Greidanus makes a move to try and get his position back from Silva into Griffins Bend.

He isn’t able to get by, and that allows Warrington to close in on him.

In fact, more cars are starting to close in.

The timing shows that Ingers is closing in on Ana.

Back to Greidanus, and we can see that Warrington has managed to get ahead.

The battle for the wooden spoon is on between Horvath and Collins.

Horvath couldn’t get by the JHR.

As we focus in on Sheppard, let’s check out the current standings once again.

It’s time for us to take a break. We hope to be back soon.

Already losing some positions, it's time to push I believe.
The two places lost at the start were impossible to retake. Hope for some improvement in the rest of the race.

It's not Christmas yet, so please bring back my place, please.... :)

Good to see the track in action - some things I need to have a look at (including some that appear differently on my computer like the reflected Falken sign at Turn 1 so not sure about that)
