New track keep crashing to desk top

I am a total beginner when it come's to track editing, and i have recentely constructed a track, using the Ultimate Guide to Track Editing v 1.0. as my guide. I manage to create the track, pitlane, cc line, jip mapping, the .col and .bin files. I then created the wad file for the track by carefully following the instructions to the point, where you create the basic textures for the track, and then click on creat objects button. To create the track, I used the original montreal .dat and .gp4 files. My problems start when I try to test the track. I have tried to test the track by replacing the original wad and curcuit files, with the modified versions, in the gp4 game. I then manage to get to the point, in the game where you click on drive, where the game would then crash to the desk. I have also tried to use to TSM, where I would create the new track for testing, but the result is always the same, where the track end's up CTD. I don't know if I have missed somethin, but i would be grateful if someone could point my in the right direction.

I advise to use GPxTrack instead of replacing files or using TSM.

Thanks for your reply SDI. Like I said in the my post above, I am a complete novice at track editing, so when mention using GPxTrack to test my new track, are you referring using a certain part in the 4.43 patch. If this is the case, what is the procedure for doing this. I was under the impression that GPxTrack was referring to the TSM (are they the same thing?). My current procedures regarding the TSM, would involve adding the newly modified .dat and .gp4 files as a new track. Then I would put the new track in a profile, for testing.

@architect: Hi there. Your problem is very likely to be in the .dat. It's very likely easily fixable, it's just not easy to spot - and one little mismanaged command or something like that can give you CTDs. Please PM me the .dat, I'll have a look at it and try to find the source of the problem.

Welcome to track building, btw, and have fun with it. :-)

Yes, GPxTrack is part of GPxPatch 4.43.

The procedure is at a minimum to create a directory with your .dat and .wad file, and select the .dat file in an arbitrary slot in GPxTrack.

It's possible to customize a lot more by adding other files. Each kind of file is explained in the documentation.

No files need to be overwritten and it works in any slot.

As an example you can take a look at the Pau track, created by addie.

Hi Atticus. The new track is still CTD, so I wish to take up your offer, to have a look at my .dat. I have sent you a PM with some contact details. I have followed the procedure suggested by SDI, using not only my new track, but also other tracks. The procedure worked perfectly fine with the others tracks, but my track still CTD.

Did you run GPxPatch in debug mode with assertions enabled?

No, I did not do this, but I have since tried this procedure. The track still CTD, while producing a gpxpload Text document.

This could be a problem with the cc line, but might also be some other .dat related setting. Something is divided by zero.

Hi!

I'm sorry, but I have not received a PM from you yet. Something has gone awry.

But keep trying, I'll look at it, if I get it.

Since its my first PM, I am not sure if I sent it correctly. When I sent the PM, on 03/08/2016 10:53pm, I put your user name, Atticus, in the add recipient box, before sending. I assumed that the way its done, but I may be wrong.

It is, but I have a dot behind my name ("Atticus" was used when I registered).

It's best to click the little "PM" button behind one's name in any of that particular member's post headers. (Then adjust the subject accordingly when composing your actual message.)
