Is it possible to make an AI car never retire to mechanical issues? @SDI

I know I know you will say just put COF to 0.
Well I did.
Still, I got a blown engine on 0 COF. It wasn't overheating either. Just suddently the engine blew up.

is there a randomisation on the COF value before I enter a race? I am very suprised to see this happen..

I think you can turn mechanical failures off in the options menu

Yes, that's right. I never got a mechanical failure when this option wasn't ticked.
ah ok.
But that also means all the other cars won't get failures right?
I want just one (or two, technically) AI controlled cars to not get failures

thanks for the help :-)

did you tried the failure editor already? with this tool you'll be able choose the failures\non failures for every single driver. But it's only possible in non championship and championship races

You start a race (non championship or championship), save it before the lights go green, then load the saved game into the failure editor and choose the failures\non failures for every single driver. Save it, go back to GP4, load the modified saved game and race!

thanks mate, shame it doesn't work in quick races though.

though I am still interested how can cars even have failures with 0 COF.. I experienced it twice in 3 races. Does COF even make a difference at all?!?

What about car failures in the magic data of a track? If the values are set to 0, does it make any difference?

My Grand Prix 4 Files

I'm a total dick. How many people can say that?
In the Team Editor tool go to team section and in the bottom you can see the option 'Failure %.' Just change the value to ZERO for all the teams or for the teams which you do want any mechanical failure. Now save and play the game and you won't have any mechanical failure for the teams you have chosen.
you mean the chance of failure (COF) value?
yes I did that
