Thank you very much for the 2015 version!
On my lappie rotate/zoom etc with all scenes of track visible is quite laggy and slow though - and this is compared to ver 1912XE which is fast and smooth on the same machine.
I load the track's .gp4 (no dat/bin/textures, wireframe and normals on, sunrays off) and it is hard to zoom on any object using the mouse. Even with "Disable Shading" enabled ;) and "Texture Mapping" off it is slow. With selecting "Behavior" as "No Textures Mode" it is slightly better - but still not as it was with 1912XE. I am not "complaining" as I am happy with the old version and for sure my XP-lappie is a good bit below standard concerning CPU/GPU power, but I would like to test the new goodies of the 2015 version.
Have I missed some setting to get a bit of speed back?

happens to me the same, it is a bit slower, I'm selecting only the scenes you want to edit to walk a little more fluid.

Well, the new lighting applied in 2015 to mimic game lighting and get vertex painting wysiwyg needs a bit more GPU resources as before
as now front and back faces of all the objects are computed for lighting instead of only front faces before.

So for some CPU/GPU couples that are not very friendly with OpenGL, it might be quite slower to draw the scenes as you surely experiment.
Sadly if it is slow even with no texture, wireframe mode and showing only 1 scene, there's few you can do to improve it. (or maybe check you didn't enabled GPU hungry features in your GPU control panel, like anti-aliasing or such).
BTW new lighting code completely replace old one and I'm not sure I could make an old fashioned render option. We will see...

I will make a test but I made a "mistake" as I bought a new CPU with plenty of RAM (coupled to a decent GPU) one week before GP4 Builder 2015 release, so it is harder for me to check this.

PS : I just noticed wireframe mode is way slower than plain render or even plain+wireframe for an unknown reason. I have 20fps in wireframe while I get 50+ in plain. So please check if it does the same for you.

Thank you for your reply.
Only one quick test: for all three (plain / plain&wire / wire) it is slow to zoom/rotate with 120k faces / 160k vertices track (all scenes visible)
With selected scene only - as maxi82 suggested - it is ok.

in my case it does not go as smooth as before with all active scenes, but can work well. by the time my PC has 4GB of RAM and video 1024 ddr3.

Laurent, today I did what should have been done a long time ago: Print all Readme.

Gotta start to read it carefully and slowly as it gets and try to learn something this time.

Thank for all efforts and huge achievements...

@Shroeder, Gildoorf and kerleyF1 : Glad to offer you such good times :)

@Xandy : and when you are not in zoom/rotate mode, just in usual move mode, is it slow too ? (I suppose so but who knows ?)

a Question lo2k = on some tracks, the export format .wrl when opened in the program deep exploration and then save them in .3ds format
to open in deep exploration ,missing most runway models, only a few are shown...
on some tracks that happens.
any suggestions?

This exports only ... :(

Well, we might ask R@mF1 about it, as he is the Deep Exploration specialist :)

On my side, when you open the .wrl in Deep Exploration, can you see all of the objects yet ?

Yeah, it is slow with all the interface settings. But that is me, using a 2015 software (says so on the tin) with iirc 6-7 years old hardware. As I said, with selected scene only all is well!
The new lightning is very much appreciated. Will need some getting used to - somehow I still invert the grayscale in my head. But does the lightning of the "back of faces" really mimic the game engine? I think it can me misleading as it is. Take a simple fence made of two-sided mapped rectangles. The lightning of the front and the back will be dependent on the normals (normal/sun/vectors angle) and front and back will get the same lightning.

@Maxi82: I just tested exporting a full track in wrl, then I opened it in Deep exploration 6.5, saved it as .3ds and imported it back in an empty .gp4 file. Everything seems to be here.

@xandy: Yes, new lighting was implemented only a couple days before the release but it was already looking so good that I kept it even if I wasn't able to make all the tests I wished. I did a few tests on normals 2 days ago as I believed something was wrong but ingame result was always the same as GP4 Builder preview so far... but I will see. I believe something is not clear about normals and lighting.
