Well, Jake's team is first in the list, so it's up to him to take the spot. Since he stated his intentions to leave the series at some point (as a driver) I'm pretty sure he'll take it. If not, John will have a second chance, unless his team's HQ doesn't "burn down"

No worries, we've made precautions that this won't happen again!
Whether or not I take the slot, however, is on another page. But first, it's Jake's choice anyway, so for the moment, HQ isn't thinking about it.
Sad to see Ruben go, but his reasons are more than valid. Yet he'll be a great loss, both as a team owner, but even more so as mod creator. If you're interested in taking his slot and helping with the mod creation, step up and send a PM to the GPGSL. Remember, however, that the GPGSL PMs are usually only checked at the perf creation time, so it might take a while until you hear back.

I can confirm I'll be taking the open slot for next season, I was just waiting for someone to mention it...
I'll announce some things in due course, at which point I'll formally advertise for drivers...there's no rush though.
