Tarmac in Nurburgring 2012

Hi

I have a question about the tarmac in the 2012 Nurburgring Track
Title : kleine Nordschleife
Version : 1.00
Filenames : nurburgring2001.wad + S1CT09.DAT + Track9.bmp
Authors : drt01, Jcaranti

I love the tarmac & would like to use it in my other tracks on my HD (just my own usage)
But when looking inside the wad I see tarmacmap1 & 2 in maps/nurburgring2001

But also a tarmacmap in resources

Can anyone tell me which one I would copy into other tracks?
Is the tarmac decided by the one in maps or resources?

Well that tarmacmap in resources did not do it...Also it is only 11.4kb

The two that are in maps/nurburgring2001 called tarmacmap1.tex & tarmacmap2.tex are larger
being 680kb & 1.32mb So I also tried using the 1.32mb one renamed to simply tarmacmap.tex but no go.

Pity as it is a beautiful tarmac

Take the 680kb one, rename it to tarmacmap.tex and put it in the maps/resources folder.

I think the guys did some funky stuff with the nordschleife so it doesn't work the standard way.

Thanks RC but I am not understanding where you mean when you say gp4 file?

Do you mean here? C:\Program Files (x86)\Grand Prix 4\Tracks
In there is only the 2009 mods tracks ini & tracks which I do not use

Maybe he means the nurburgring2001.gp4 file that is inside the .wad of the track (nurburgring2001.wad\maps\nurburgring2001\nurburgring2001.gp4)

Thanks & you could be right as that "TRACK_track00, etc etc"
Is in that file but.........I am wondering how changing this nurburgring2001.gp4 file will help
me to get the tarmac used in nub into other tracks?


This would be something nice to add to GPxPatch...GPxSet since that drop down menu for tarmacs exists.
Would be nice if we could throw a tarmac file into the main GP4 & point to it.....Or can we already?
Although I am still trying to find that one

Actually I am starting to see I have no luck changing any Tarmacs on any tracks at all.


I am not sure why....I know about turning off bump mapping in f1graphics.cfg & also in game
options/graphics.

Yet when I add any tarmacmap.tex file to any circuit wad I do not get any changes

Am I correct in assuming that GPxPatch ....GPxSet should be blank for tarmac & Sky bitmaps?
That is how I have it set now with nothing showing so as to not over-ride any tex with bmp

Anyone have consistent success with tarmac changing?

I migth be wrong because that's a long time I played with tarmac, but I believe the tarmacmac used by the game is not the one in each track wad but the one placed in your gp4folder\MAPS\RESOURCES

Extract the nurburgring2001_page_101.tex file from the wad. Rename it to tarmacmap.tex and put it in the maps/resources folder of your custom track.

Thanks TL that is very interesting & good to know that is the Tarmac file.
But even doing this I am still stuck with the plain bleached out tarmac

But as I said in a previous post I realize I am having a tarmac problem no matter what
other tarmac I put in any track wad/maps/resources as none work.
Even some other folks have made. Also I did once use Vesuvius tarmac & it was great
but even that I no longer can get to load.

I am having a problem somewhere but do not know where
The only other change recently was the new GPxPatch so not sure if that might be it?

Thanks for the tip on finding the Nurb tarmac though & if I can get the main problem fixed
at least I now know where to find it

I just noticed all my track wads show all wads/maps/resources
tarmacbumpmaps as .tga files? Weren't they all .bmp's before?

I looked even on my backup hard-drive & they all show as .tga files
Am I correct that they have changed? Weren't they .bmp files before?

Back in GP3/GP3-2k they were bmps indeed

You know if GP4 is not using a tarmacbumpmap.bmp
I had wondered why GPxPatch GPxSet has that drop down
for Tarmac Bitmap selection?

Also would you know...should that be blank if one wants to use
a tarmacmap.tex as I do?

I think that it overrides only the GP3 and GP3-2k files. I'm sure René set it to be ignored by GP4 Then it's all up to the track itself as the other guys said above. Then I'm out of contention as to explain why it doesn't seem to work

All helps to track down my problem
