Template from 2001 season?

Hello forum! Does anyone have a template from the original GP4 cars from 2001 (it doesn't matter which car)? Important: I need no tex-files but z3d-files to view the cars in ZModeler. Or is there a way to convert tex-files to z3d-files? Thanks!

As far i know there are no template's availble for the original 2001 cars. for your texture question this what you need to do:
1. open the cars.wad with easywad(just double click your cars.wad) extract the .tex files and the .gp4 file of your car you want to view in zmodeler.
2. then convert the .tex file's with slimtex to .tga file's.
3. Open Zmodeler and import the .gp4 file and if im correct Zmodeler automaticly inserts the .tga file's when you import the car in zmodeler and from there you can save it as an z3d file :)

I hope it helps! :)

Thanks. But I need a real template to design my own car. Do you know any good template which comes very near to the cars to the cars used in the three seasons 2000, 2001 and 2002? :-)

Now I have downloaded the 2002 Mclaren Mercedes MP4/17 by Wai Keen Lam at this site. Now I want to import one of the two gp4-files and ZModeler says: "Error importing/exporting file: Can't read this file! Possible caused by: File is locked or has an invalid header." At first, ZModeler opened gp4-files, but now this error message appears at every gp4-file! :( What shall I do? This program is kidding me! hot

its easy:
1. Download the program Gp4Builder: [www.realgpx.com]
2. Open the .gp4 file with gp4builder and then save it again.
3. Open your .gp4 file with Zmodeler and that should do the trick ;-)

I already have GP4Builder, but your trick works. (Y) But now another problem appears: Why is there only one lod for each car and not five like at other templates? And where are the tex- or tga-files to paint on? :(

Because they didn't created lower lods i guess??? and i don't know why there aren't any .tex file's in the package, and normally there is no .tga file's in the package maybe a .psd file for the template, just search the site well for cars with templates :)

Thanks very much, but the files in both links are broken! :-O I only get the tex-files when extracting the rar-files. Do you also have a Mclaren template from 2000 and 2002? :-)

DonĀ“t know where to find templates from 2000 and 2002, but here you have some cars in z3d format from those years if it helps:

Ferrari & Mclaren by Enzojz (2000)

Ferrari-Mclaren-Sauber-Williams by GP4Italia (2002)

Thank you very much! This is exactly what I have searched. (Y) But where are the psd-files to paint on?

Almost all released cars don't come with a .psd template. If you want to modify them, you have to convert the .tex to .tga, an paint on them.

Do you mean the .z3d files of the 2000&2002 cars that Foreverk uploaded? He never said anything about textures, these files are just the models of the cars in zmodeler format. If you want to paint a car with a template, I recommend you to try Maikels cars here: [www.grandprixgames.org]
They're all fictonal, but have a template.

Else use the Benetton or Ferrari templates posted above. You find the templates in the folders called Template.

Well, why need I a z3d-file when I can't paint on it!? And the fictional templates are all extremely ugly cars (yes, I have downloades them all a long time ago) except the one used in the video I know well. This template is ok, but now after painting more than 30 different cars on this one I'm fed up and want to try something new, so I need a paintable template of the 2002 Mclaren. Tell me now how I can get it, I will make it myself. It seems to me that everything I want I have to make myself! hot
