When the next Grand prix series comes out, shouldn't you get a PC thrown in with it? - afterall, GP4 is the worlds most expensive Simulation (it's not a game:) and it cost me about £800 qwid for it (£24.99 for the PC, and about £750 for the CDRom;)

41 FPS?, thats good, if your PO is low (<70> 10%). My GP4 runs "unusually good" on my Hewlet Packard computer (those family outfits you know) I CAN get about 50 FPS in a race (not at start) with a SUB 100 P/O. But i just like to leave it on 32 FPS, as it seems to run great all round, and all the time (wet rain monsoon etc). All settings on high except (you guessed) "Environment is on Static" (PO killer - and just a showy thingymejig anyway) and at 1280*1024 res (doesn't seem to run much better, if any, on a lower res).

My System: Intel Pentium 4 2.66 Mhz, Radeon 9000 64 MB (non pro), 60 Gig HD 5400) 512 MB Ram (2100/266) on board AC97, My Barbie doll, Pingu, and "Im an Athlon, Get me out of here" are some of the software proggies;)

I know it's a hewlett packard, but reading some threads here over the past few Months, it seems to perform better than with other peoples' PC's that have (say) a Radeon 9700/Ti4200 etc, and that shouldn't be so should it??. Tellin' ya: IT'S ALL MAINLY DOWN TO THAT LI'L OL' THING CALLED THE PROCESSOR!!!!;)

I think a high-end processor/mid range card will suit GP4 better (than say the other way round)

Tony

With the ever increase in technology, the word "impossible" should be used with caution - if at all

GeForce FX5900 Ultra seems to be faster on high resolutions with Anti-Aliasing and Anisotopic filtering, but it has not yet been released.

GeForce FX5900 Ultra

you mean the card that blows up when the screen saver comes on? Fantastic card that

Early GF FX's didnt realsie the screen saver was 3D, the fan didnt come on and bang, the card went boom boom.

Wouldnt go anywhere near the GF FX cards unless i was 100% sure it was a newer model.

also, want an idea of how bad GP4 is for fps?

My rig

1.2Ghz AMD, GF4 MX 440, 256Mb RAM, WinXP Pro.

GP4 - full details - i get 25-30fps

Nascar Racing 2003. - Full details, 43 cars on the grid (plus mine), at the back of the grid, watching all the othe r43 cars at full racing speed on Daytona raceway i get 40fps. When theres less cars on the screen, i get between 50 and 60fps. Not only that, but NR 2003 is capped at 60fps, s i know im maxing out the game

so Nr2003 car display 44 cars, on a longish track (2.5mile oval), with banking, which aint normally good for FPS, on full details, and i get 40fps at the LOWEST and GP4 can give me 30 with less cars etc?

Racing Is Life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting
Jesus may be able to heal the sick and bring the dead back to life, but he can't do shît for low fps
