GP4 Genius - gp4 file to zed file

I am trying to import the Williams 2014 car made by hega to have a look at the shape in zmodeler.

However as it is a gp4 file I can not load this, I am trying to change it to a zed file using gp4 genius, but it appears to be doing nothing.

Can anyone help?

.gp4 files can be opened in ZModeler indeed but you need to download a previous version (1.06 if I remind well)

does anyone have a link to the 1.06 version

I just uninstalled 1.07 to installed 1.06

when loading the application I am faced with the error ...

the program cant start because msvcrtd.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Anyone have any ideas

Uninstall 1.06. Run CCleaner for registry problems. Do this clean twice. Open an elevated command prompt. insert sfc /SCANNOW This will work if the missing dll is a Microsoft file. Re-boot re-install 1.06.

Great news I now have 1.06 working and can load gp4 files into zmodeler to see the car shape.

On the flip side how can I open the tga files in order to edit the texture to create my own design.

I have photoshop cs6 for this.

I have template I have used before but I have always used slimtex to create the tex file

I think you can open gp4 files with 1.07. I think it's what I did one time and it was working if I'm correct.

I have everything working in regards to opening lod files.

I just need to find a way to open the tex files in photoshop so I can edit and then install on the car to see how they look

If you have a template in psd format, it would be far easier. Just paint it, save in tga format, then import in zModeller.

Unfortunately I do not have it in psd format

It only contains the tex files that you install in the was.

Not the editable psd file.

I was asking if there was anyway in doing the reverse so you can edit tex files

Convert the .tex files to .tga using Slimtex.

I was thinking I might do some new basic 2014 tutorials for new folks that are starting out on doing simple modifying jobs in GP4 ... I know there are some around, but I hear that some of the old links are dead now? what do you guys think? Will it help?

Sounds great , zmodeler and other 3D softwares are not easy to handle in the beginning . However , anyone who search in google or watch videos from the youtube is able to learn .

If you want to publish your tutorial on GP4 Central let me know, I'm keen to get more content like that on to the site.
