Carset manager

Hi everybody,

I'm writing a program which allows you to select different carsets with physics, performance, teamart and background pictures etc..
Here's a screenshot of an older version:


Here's a quick guide how to get started:
Start the program. (the program seeks for a gp4 install, and if it fails to find your gp4 folder you'll have to select it yourself)
Goto the File menu and select Carset Creator
Choose a directory name for the carset (if you choose '2003 season' the carset will be stored in 'YOURDRIVE:\YOURGP4FOLDER\Gpsaves\Carsets\2003 season\'
The rest is optional. Just play with it and you'll find out what it's for
Hit the create button.
And you can play.

You can edit a carset by selecting it, and click your rightmouse button.
Not all the features are in the GUI, so if you want to use the 'special features' you'll have to edit the carset.set file by hand (which is located in the carset folder)
click on a carset and with the RM button and select 'Goto folder'. Doubleclick the carset.set file and select open with notepad.

Here's an example of what a carset file can look like:

Not all the lines have to be there, this is just an example of what it could look like.
The whole TrackCarsWad part doesn't have to be in the file for instance.

I'm not going to explain everything now, because i don't know where to start
So if you want to know something, or you are having some difficulties, just post them here.
I'll be checking the forum.

Ps.
The program is still in developing stage, so its wise to make a backup of your gp4 files.
And if you are having troubles starting the program try to edit 'carset manager.ini' and set 'check=0'

Create doesn't work

Is it also possible to use a seperated 'gp4.exe for each season?
Helmetspositions, steerpositions,... are all stored into the exe

Does the prog have tp be installed into a specific dir?
The create function doesn't work

I have the first version of the Carsetmanager and Zaz did a mighty fine job it works perfectly and i can have F1, Fantasy carsets with a flick of the switch.

The preview pic option is fantastic. It works together with GPx Patch and GP4. Great job!

Why won't "create" work for some of us??? Does it work with decrypted GP4 or Patched Versions?

My version works with decrypted GP4 exe. Dunno about the patch... haven't tried the patch yet [blush blush]

Ok i'm going to find out why some of you can't create a carset.
I still have no idea what is wrong, but i'll find out

To answer some questions....
The program doesn't have to be installed into a specific dir.
It should work on any version of GP4 (although the GP4 detection can fail, so the check can be disabled)
No todays date is 05-08-03
It works with GpxPatch... in fact, it won't run without it.

so does this enable us to have car SETS now, rather than just putting cars in individually?

does it make using new cars/carshapes a lot easier? cos i have really struggled doing that normally
