hi forum

does anybody like to give the following track a quick try ?
11.4km-testtrack

I just would like to know whether it loads and plays or not. and with that, what windows version you use, xp, 7, 32bit, 64bit ...

just download and unpack the zip, and then load the included file paulhoad.dat into the trackmanager of the latest gpxpatch 4.20.
and choose "20km" in the gpxtrack-panel to enable long tracks.

The track works perfectly fine for me too, albeit it takes absolutely ages to drive a lap of! Windows 7 64-bit XP SP3 compatability running as administrator too.
Although i did test a race and in every single braking point the ai didn't brake at all and simply drove straight into the barriers ;)

are there people with windows xp ? point is, I am on xp sp3, and here it doesnt load, whatever I do :(

to those brave souls who drove a whole lap, did you always have tarmac under the wheels, or where there gaps ?

The track loads, but when I try to leave the pitlane the game crashes after 5 - 20 metres driven.

I tried it with GPxPatch's trackset-manager and with the good old slot-overwriting-method. In both situations the same bad result :(.

EDIT: This reminds me on any version of Fuji Speedway, which has the same crash after only a few metres driven in the pitlane.

So this mean that we finally managed to pass the 8 km hard coded limit? This will be/is amazing!!!

The old classics will be always better than the newest games.

The crash is in vertex buffer related code where some buffer is overrun. It can also be track texture related.

OK, so I'm not the only one. you did a free practice then ? as soon as the car leaves the garage and drives on the pit lane gp4.exe crashes. if you do quick race then gp4.exe crashes "at the end of the loading bar" ...

btw if you run the .wad with another .dat it works (for me), and if you run the .dat with another .wad it also works. but the combination crashes.

you probably missed to set "Max track length" to "20km" on the GPxTrack-panel of GPxPatch ...

It doesn't crash here when I leave the pit lane. It just warps at the end of it, but then I can continue driving.

hm, driving through trees is OK. I had a few of them for marking positions. but buildings are not there ?!
with "flying cars" you mean like in the screenshot of SDI above ?

be sure to just unzip the package and then load the file paulhoad.dat, and leave all the files in that same directory. that way the .dat and .wad are matching (not much to match there though :) ), I mean the trackmanager loads the .dat and looks for a (single) .wad nearby.

thats the same installation where quick race also works, I assume ? in my installation quick race crashes before I see the track, and in free practice I see the garage, but as soon as I leave the garage and join the pit lane gp4.exe crashes.

as for the pit lane end, yeah could be its not that properly attached yet. but that should not crash gp4.exe

in quickrace, the tarmac is transparent on the whole lap ? or just parts ?

That's the same crash as addie has. I think with XP compatibility mode it won't crash.
