Hey,

Just a quick question: in terms of the possible outcome of a race (I'm mostly referring to an AI simulation), what's the difference between a generic season performance, and a track specific one?

Generic would be based on an average over the entire season or whatever part of the season has been completed so far. This is the most common version and the ones the game original worked off. Track specific means that the results from that individual race are the only ones dictating the figures in the performance file. A generic one will give you more random results, a track specific one will give you results very similar to what happened in real life, at least in qualifying in any rate.

Can you use track specific performance files using GPxPatch not CSM? I read that it was possible on the early versions, I can't work out how to do it now :S And if so, what do the file(s) look like compared to the usual?

As SDI said....

And the files are exactly the same performance files as used by the mods so you can download them from threads here and use them easily with just GPxPatch.

Cheers, got it to work including a generic one so that the names in the menu are up to date. However For some reason melbourne won't load, and the game crashes, even if I use the exact same file link as another track where it works fine..! :S The first one does start with path01, right? Because all the other track relate, so I assume that part is right. Stumped :S Do you want the crash log?

It's a division by zero, and it looks like the track timing factor (magic data I think) is zero or some other value is zero.

Just a quick question SDI, when are the performances associated with a .ch_ file..? For example, if I save a championship as .chb, can I edit the performance files for the second race, third race and beyond, or not at all?

The track specific performance files are loaded and applied when the track is loaded. The track is also loaded when you load a saved championship. So you can prepare them in advance for the whole season.
