Thanks Ferrari2007, it's also good to be back (although I don't know for how long).
The 3 characters are created this way now:
1. Take the first 3 characters from the last surname
2. For each other surname, insert the first character at the front
3. For each duplicate, use the first character of the first name, or the 2nd etc. until unique
Examples:
- Jenson Button = BUT
- Michael Schumacher = MSC (if Ralf would be there too, else SCH)
- Ralf Schumacher = RSC (if Michael would be there too, else SCH)
- Guido van der Garde = VDG
- Juan Pablo Montoya = MON ('Pablo' is hardcoded to be not accepted as last name)
When MON is not unique, as is the case with Montoya, Monteiro, and Montagny, then it becomes:
- Juan Pablo Montoya = JMO
- Tiago Monteiro = TMO
- Franck Montagny = FMO
After reading your posts I realize there should be an extra step between 2 and 3, replacing the third character with a unique one from the surname. But which is used will depend on the order of the drivers. So it Monteiro could become MON, MOT, or MOE. Montoya could become MON, MOT, or MOO. And Montagny could become MON, MOT, or MOA.
So, if you want MOY for Montoya, then I need to read the custom three_letter_codes.ini. If an example of this file could be sent to me I'd appreciate it, so I can use the same format.
About the shadowed font: the font itself is not shadowed, I just draw the text 2 times, once in black at offset +3,+3, and then again in white. I only do this in GPxSAT Classic mode. If this should be more general I could have a setting in the fonts.ini so it draws the shadow for any font that has it enabled (+3,+3 offset can be one of the settings, others can be shadow color and transparency).
Digital 2010 will look the same in GP3 as it looks in GP4.
Edit: manually entered list bullets, BBCode doesn't seem to work.
