One more time about GP4.EXE and so on (Burried alive)

Hello everybody.

I know that this issue has been handled many times so I'm sorry to dig it up again. I am really desperate.

I have strugled like 3 days with 1995 mod 2.0 and 2.2.
First with Windows7 Home Premium 64bit and I got only GP4.exe crashing time after time.
1991 mod works a bit better.
Today I suddenly found my old HDD where was Window XP Pro installed.
After many problems I managed to made XP "alive" again.

I installed GP4 from original CD and I made all the gizmos by the numbers (decrypt exes, patch9.6, etc etc)
Mods 1988 and 1991 works great, no problems, no debug raports.
BUT 1995 2.0 and 2.2 gives me a note: "Grand Prix 4 is already running" and then hole program goes down.

So if you have anykind of solutions to that... I'm listening
Thanks to all of you.

And I appreciate all those guys who has made these mods, track packs and tools for GP4. Salut. (B)
-Kessu-

Best regards
-Kessu-

Where is the gpx_patch crash log?

When the "Grand Prix 4 is already running" message pops up and I had to klik "ok", after that the game and CSM goes down and there is no GpxPatch crash log.
That's why I'm a bit confused.
As I said, 1988 and 1991 mods and tracks works perfectly.

What os you guys are using?

Right click GP4.exe and set the compatibility to XP SP2/3. However, if some mods do work, and others do not, the fault lies within the mods.

I'm having trouble preventing GP4 CTD. I have XP, yet can only play for about 5 minutes at most before it crashes on me. Can anyone help me out?

I'm using Windows XP professional at the moment.
In W7 I also tryed those "emulating" modes. Then even 1991 mod doesn't work perfectly.
I have downloaded 1995 mod 2.2 three times.
Maybe the 4th. time makes a difference :D

For all of you, who follows this topic and try to give me a help. THANKS!

GP4 runs well in XP. It might help to delete the mod wadcache contents before loading. Less chance of the wad build being corrupted when it forms.

It wont matter how many times you download a mod, if it's stuffed it's not going to get any better.

@Mullet345, this is Kessu's help topic, if you have a problem, open a new topic and post the full gpx crash log, put gpx error log in the topic header. Set gpx to run in debug and verbosity to high, use multiple posts if the log does not fit into one post.

Mortal.

I delete all the mod caches. And I installed only 1995 mod 2.2. Result: Problem remains, "GP4 is already running" and crash.
I downloaded that 1995 mod 2.2 from Fongu's link: [www.wuala.com] Files/Mods/1995
As you said, maybe the file is twisted.
Do you have this 1995 mod 2.2?
This problem is VERY ODD. I have scratched my head so much that I'm loosing all my hair. :-)

Fongu--> If you are reading this, don't take that "twisted" line personaly. Maybe something had happent during upload proces or something else.
Thanks, that you are sharing those files to us.

I don't have it, but as I said, if it is the only mod that causes the problem, and a pm to Fongu regarding your problem with it does not solve it, perhaps it's time to move on to something else. Another solution would be to try it on another XP machine, or if you have sufficient space on the W7 64bit OS, create an XP partition and use a boot manager. Install GP4 from scratch and test again. If it fails again, then you have eliminated your current OS as the fault. GP4 runs on W7 32 bit, it does not like 64 bit at all for some reason.

Mortal, i got GP4 perfectly running on Seven 64 bits (AMD), but that's obvious that GP3 and GP4 are really fickle with new comp and OS

Mortal.
Maybe you are wondering same thing what I am, at least after this.
For now I have tryed almost every CSM mods what we have available.
And those mods actually works, BUT not this 1995!
What is so special in that mod?
Ok. Maybe the only solution is to reinstall XP, if I manage to find that disk from somewhere.

I feel myself just an ASS.
When I started to deal with this old XP Pro I tought that I have upgraded all nessesary files.
Ingluding DirectX. Ok, I had downloaded it but I had only extracted it, but I haven't run setup.exe
Now 1995 mod 2.0 works, but it's unstable as it was in Windows 7.
Still having debug reports.

You guys can call me as ASS, MORON, NOOBIE etc.
I have deserved it. :)

Mortal --> Send me your e-mail by PM. I'd like to show you those debug raports.

Yes I can.
But I was just thinking that it's gonna be a very long list.

Up the full log and post a link to it please. I'd like Laurent to have a look at it as well. There's some unusual entries there.

All LODS for the Ligier are no good. LOD1 for the Sauber, same. TV Overlays are too big, turn them off. Replace the faulty LODS and test again.
pm Laurent, Lo2k and ask him to please look at your error log as well, tell him I sent you. :-)
