FPS Try this...

I'm always dickin' around with my GP4 files especially the cars.wad. I noticed when changing this wad my frames are reset to 0, this happens also when changing the graphics.cfg (obviously). When I first got GP4 I allways would recalibrate after these changes but now I don't. Without recalibrating I keep my PO of 45-60 consistantly with 32bit on, 90% mirror and most graphic goodies on. I'm running all the 03 hi.tex carshapes at 1024 res, smooth as hell. I know this is a tired subject but maybe some of you with obsolete CPU's like mine (PIII-450 256Meg) will benefit also. So basically get your GP4 runnining with a decent PO, exit, edit you're .CFG. Start GP4 and see if the PO is still the same. I have been doing this for months and so far have not seen any slowdowns or stutter. If someone has allready brought this up in another thread, sorry for bringing it up again.

What do we need to change to 0

Jackie... acording to GP4, untill I recalibrate after a .CFG change resets my framerate to 0. I can still change the est framerate, but I leave it alone. When I play I see and get any changes I made to my cars.wad & graphics.cfg and my PO is basically uneffected. This like I stated is working for me, may not for others but it's worth a try.

Perhaps it would be good if you posted your f1graphics.cfg file here. If it works, I am pretty certain that Mysticalcrayon will be a very happy man indeed.

if the game is thinking its using 0 fps then it will be trying to draw to the screen as soon as it can, instead of waiting for the timer to tell it to :)

There's nothing magical about the config file, open it up and edit it with whatever changes you want to make (0= 32bit > 1=32bit). I think Jon explained it better than me as far as what GP4 is doing.

Ok if u change 1=32bit to 0 u are no longer running the game in 32bit hence it will run faster but will not be as good.

I am running the game in 64 i think anyway.

Are we all talking about the old trick whereby you set the 32bit textures to 0 (off) in the graphics config and get better performance??
