Gp4 & Fastest Detonator

What drivers should i use i have a nvidia gforce4 ti42000 with AGPx8

I am using 4.1.0.9 but am having probs with the game hesitating and the start video keeps stopping and starting with the sound. If I switch off the sound card i am ok

You probably need to lower your windows audio hardware acceleration

Have already done that it happens as well if i try the onboard sound could it be that my power supply is only 300w and the graphics card recomends 350

Thanks for the tip on 30.82, I have been using 29.42 for months, thought it was the best for my system(1.7AMD,geforce3.win98se), but I tried 30.82 and its flying....

Try the 31.00 it is faster still.

I downloaded the version from MSI website and found it faster that the Nvidia release. It has a couple of extra files but I dont know what they do.

I just changed a line in the .inf file to say ST LAB Gf4MX440 which is what my card is.

let me know do you also get speed increase from 30.82 to 31.00

I use 30.82 drivers - got them last night and changed from the latest ones, and you really can see the difference on a gf4mx440. Where is it that you get the 31.00 drivers from? are they compatible with xp?

I have a intel 1.2ghz/ 256mb....and a GF4 mx440 64meg....so using the latest detonator is not a good thing????

Anyway ..after reading this post i am downloading 30.82(10.1MB) now , might increase/decrease??

There is about 6 different drivers for gf4mx440 including
win2000/XP versions as well as th win98/me

You may have to modify the .inf file to get them to work if your card
is not an MSI.... I did.

Just downloaded 30.82 detonator and what a difference!
I am now getting 32-34fps even on the starting grid........
I think the texture Quality has dropped somewhat...but it still looks GREAT!

I downloaded 30.82 and my graphics card did not work what card are they for ?

I have a nvidia gforce4 ti42000 with AGPx8 so should they work with my card. I am hoping it might fix the problem i have got where the opeing video and the game keeps hesitating as I can not play the game at the mo do to the fact this can happen in a breaking zone.

I thought I'd give the "MSI 31.00's a try but when I download the file, it comes in a winrar self extracting file. Where should I extract the driver to?
I tried a "temp" folder but there's no obvious .exe to get them going.

Doh, me is knobbo.
Got my head srewed on 31.00's from MSI are good but I've got 31.00's from Tweakers and they just pip the MSI's (benchmarked 3DMark 2001). Got to say that in GP4 they're pretty hot too. I'm sticking with these. I'll post if I top them.

That's interesting Jackie.... I tried the stock Nvidia Det 31.00 and for my system they were slightly slower.... but then again maybe I am splitting hairs as I am fanatical about getting the most fps in GP4

i'm running 43.03 's on my xp rig with no probs whatsoever,i tend to upgrade my drivers whenever theres a new set out...i used to use 30.82 's but forget them,too slow now,they tend to be people frightened to move up a set of drivers for fear of their computer crashing ...its all bollox when people say blah this blah that...just turn down image quality one notch and turn v sync off in your display properties and bob's yer mothers brother

I have downloaded 43.03 now. Its wonderful to see how i get 2 more frames with same po.

All the same on diffenent other games but have less points in 3dmark2001. But thats not important for me.

I am going to try the 43.03 and 40.71 dets but I suspect that they will be slower.

What chunter says seems to hold true with the new rigs P4's etc. and WinXP and full blown G4's and above but on humble systems like mine with the trimmed down bog standard MX cards there is no benefit in the new drivers as they seem to be tailored for the high-end cards/systems.

I hope I am wrong so I will test and see.
