Gp4 & Fastest Detonator

I want to know the opinion here about the Fastest Detonator purely in terms of Frames Per Second for GP4...

Not concerned about any other games just gp4.

I have been trying the Det 30's and it looks to me that 31.00 is faster than
30.82 and 31.80

I don't use the 40's because benchmarks I have read conclude they are slower and they are for dx9 which isnt supported in gp4 anyway.

On my humble P3 o/c 868mhz with an ordinary Gf4mx440 card I get 30fps with Quincunx turned on. (no diff from aa x 2 and looks smoother)

Anyone else have any ideas ?

On my old Hercules Gf2mx the fastest drivers remained the Hercules 14.10 drivers. I kept trying new drivers and then going back to the 14.10 because they always gave me 2 to 3 fps more.

I suspect the same is true for the Gf4mx... there will be a sweet spot somewhere and I like to hunt it down

Also who else has a low spec machine with Gf4mx440 card ?

There is little difference. The 40 series may be a bit faster but there are bugs. According to guru3d, the best bugfree dets are 30.82. I switched back to these after trying the others. I recommend them- fast and no bugs.

i have 4.1.0.9, also known as 41.09.
the PO is usually between 150-250 and i get lots of bsod's!
and screenshots work 1 in 10 times.

so post back how you get on. i think i'll try 30.82

I need someone who can check for me which drivers are the best, I don't know how to test?

I have:
- Windows XP
- NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400
- Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.50GHz
- drivers I use: 40.91
- 256MB RAM
- DirectX 9.0

41.09 added 20 to PO (130 starts) from 30.82 (110) straight fact Using 30.82.

downgraded to 30.82 and now i can take screenshots.
wait and see what happens about blue screens.
PO not much different.

how to check PO and fps during driving??

fraps for actual fps and 'O' key for BO

Dont use higher detos as 30.xx with MX cards. You can read infos about on zdnet or chip.de (if you speak german).

The newer detonators - 30.xx and above - are for gf 3ti ultra or gp4 ti cards but not for mx. But you can use them with your mx cards.

The newer drivers supports more functions that wont work with mx cards (2mx and 4mx also)

I use 43.00 and the latest drivers for my sound card

You guys that are using 30.92 have you tried 31.00 ?

I get about 2 extra frames with the 31.00 drivers measured with Fraps

and my 30fps appears to stay abit more constant.

A good way to check PO consistency is to setup a quick race and then save a Hotlap on the 2nd Lap.

When you view the data with Hotfxlap it tells you the average PO %

I then use that to compare PO averages across detonators and game gfx settings as long as you keep the variables constant to compare.

Quality, quality, quality -DON'T FORGET TEXTURE QUALITY!!!!!
